We were seeking a private tour, using Shinkansen trains to travel between major cities. Amber organized all the train travel and booked great hotels, that were within easy walking distance of the stations. We were also very happy with the quality of the tour guides, Harumi in Tokyo and Bianco for Kyoto, Osaka and Hiroshima. They had great proficiency in English and were engaging and knowledgeable. Overall, Amber was very attentive to our requirements in setting up our Japan tour, and during the trip she would reach out regularly, to ask how it was progressing. When my mother saw all the pictures from my previous visits she told me she wanted me to take her; so that is what I did. I contacted Phoebe with Ume Travel and she helped me create a perfect trip for my mother. We even created a custom trip so we could visit Hiroshima and Itsukushima Shrine! My mother is older and sometimes would need breaks. The tour guides I had were ones from my previous trips and were very accommodating to her needs. The Private tour were amazing and Sherry who led the tour had such great energy, she made sure each and every one of us had the best experience. The agenda was packed and we saw many different parts of Japan. The sushi making class was one of the highlights as was Miyajima Island. They remained patient and kind throughout and accommodated all my needs. The guides in every city were super friendly and spoke great English. They were really knowledgeable—whenever we asked about a place, they explained everything right away in detail! The drivers were great too. Amber was incredibly thoughtful and accommodating! She adjusted the itinerary by replacing physically demanding spots like hiking and steep walks with more relaxed and accessible options. She even arranged walking sticks and a wheelchair for us in advance! In every city, the local guides were so kind and would often help push the wheelchair without us even asking — we were truly touched. The drivers were also excellent — patient, punctual, and always ready to help. By the end of the trip, we still had plenty of energy left — we honestly felt like we were back in our 40s!
