Itinerary
- Day 1
Luang Prabang
You'll arrive at Luang Prabang airport and head to your hotel to get settled. Once you've had a chance to freshen up, take some time walking around this UNESCO World Heritage city to get a feel for the place. By late afternoon, you'll participate in a Baci ceremony at a local family's home, which is a traditional Lao ritual that gives real insight into how locals practice spirituality and culture.

- Day 2
Luang Prabang
After breakfast, the Royal Palace Museum is your first stop, built back in 1904 during French colonial times. Then you'll take a leisure cruise upstream on the Mekong River where you'll see countryside views and stop at Ban Xanghai village to watch local rice wine production, then continue to Pak Ou Caves with thousands of gold Buddha statues inside. Back on land, you'll visit Wat Sene and Wat Xiengthong temple. Later in the day, check out Heuan Chan, a 19th-century aristocratic mansion, and have authentic Lao coffee or tea. Finish with sunset views at Wat Prabath and browse the Night Market for local textiles.

Luang Prabang
Start early for the morning alms-giving ceremony with over 200 Buddhist monks, a tradition going back to the 14th century. After that, visit the morning market near the former Royal Palace where locals sell their daily catch. Following breakfast at your hotel, climb 329 steps up Phousi Hill for views of the city and Mekong River. Head to Kuang Si waterfall, the largest in the area with three tiers and turquoise pools where you can swim. You'll also explore hidden waterfalls near Ban Thapene village and the Bear Rescue Center if it interests you, then stop at Ock Pop Tock Living Craft Center by the Mekong to see weavers and batik makers before catching the sunset.

- Day 4
Luang Prabang to Bolaven Plateau
After breakfast, you'll fly to Pakse in southern Laos. From there, head east to the Bolaven Plateau where it's cooler. Visit a tea plantation and see Tad Fan Waterfall with its twin chutes. Walk through local villages like Ban Lak Sipchet, known for iron knives, and Ban Lak Samsip with bamboo baskets. If there's time, visit Tad Yeung waterfall and swim in its natural pool. Your day ends at a coffee plantation before you reach your accommodation on the plateau.

- Day 5
Bolaven Plateau to Done Khong
After breakfast, check out the Tha Teng ethnic minority food market. Then explore two minority villages: Ban Bong Neua, an Alak village with a sacrificial altar, and Ban Kokphung, a Katu village where coffins are traditionally stored beneath houses. In the afternoon, you'll visit Wat Phou, an ancient Khmer temple complex from the 5th century and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, set among rice fields and waterways. Later, travel to Done Khong Island where you'll have the rest of the day to relax or explore what the island has to offer.

- Day 6
Done Khong Island
You'll board a tail boat in the morning for about 1.5 hours to explore the Mekong River at Si Phan Done, where dry season waters reveal countless islets. Check out Ban Khone village with French colonial buildings and remnants of the first Lao railway with its old locomotive. Continue by tuk tuk to Liphi waterfall, which marks the border between Laos and Cambodia. Visit a local pagoda to learn about spiritual customs and temple architecture, then walk through the village. Bicycles are available if you want to explore on your own, including a sunset ride around the island.

Khone Island to Pakse
After breakfast, head back to the mainland at Ban Nakasang fishing village and continue south to Khone Phapheng, the largest waterfall by volume in Southeast Asia near the Lao-Cambodian border, set in a wildlife-rich area. Drive back to Pakse, established by the French in 1905 at the confluence of the Mekong and Se Don rivers. Visit Ban Khoh village known for stone carving, then walk to Wat Chomphet, home to Laos' largest sitting Buddha statue. As evening approaches, climb to the top of Wat Phou Salao for panoramic views over Pakse and the surrounding areas.

After breakfast, transfer to Ubon Ratchathani in Thailand via the Chongmek Border to catch your flight to Bangkok and connect to your departure flight home.
