    Istanbul

    You'll arrive in Istanbul and get picked up from the airport for a transfer to your hotel. Once there, take some time to settle in and familiarize yourself with the city around you.

  2. Day 2

    Istanbul

    After breakfast, head to the Mosque of Suleyman the Magnificent perched on Istanbul's third hill, where you can catch great views across the city. The rest of the day is yours to wander around, though there's an optional full-day historical tour available if you'd like it. That tour covers Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, the Blue Mosque, Hippodrome, and the Grand Bazaar with lunch included.

    Istanbul

    Start with breakfast and then take a boat trip on the Bosphorus to see the sultans' palaces and traditional wooden houses scattered along the water. Later, check out the Spice Bazaar, a 500-year-old Ottoman market full of activity. In the afternoon, you can join an optional tour of the Asian side that includes Beylerbeyi Palace, the Bosphorus suspension bridge, and Camlica Hill with lunch.

    Istanbul to Ankara

    Leave Istanbul behind and travel through the Bolu mountains heading to Ankara, Turkey's capital and second largest city. You'll get a panoramic bus tour of this modern yet historic place, then visit Anitkabir Mausoleum, the symbolic tomb of Turkey's founder.

    Head toward Cappadocia, driving past Turkey's second largest lake, Lake Tuz, and a 13th-century caravanserai. Once you arrive in Cappadocia, check into your hotel and settle in for the evening. There's an optional jeep safari available if you want to explore the region's unique volcanic landscape.

You'll see Göreme Valley with its rock-carved Byzantine churches and frescoes, then head to Avcilar and Güvercinlik Valleys where the famous fairy chimney rock formations stand. Along the way, visit traditional carpet and stone workshops.

    Start early and travel to Pamukkale. First, see the ruins of Hierapolis, an ancient Hellenistic city set on a hillside. Then explore the Cotton Castle, a natural site featuring brilliant white mineral-filled waterfalls, stalactites, and natural thermal pools that formed over centuries.

    Travel to Ephesus in the morning and walk through this well-preserved Greco-Roman city that was once Asia Minor's capital. You'll see the Temple of Hadrian, Temple of Trajan, the ancient theater, and the Library of Celsus. After that, visit the House of the Virgin Mary and a leather goods gallery showing the region's famous lambskin production before heading to Kusadasi or Izmir.

    Kusadasi to Patmos (Greek Islands Cruise)

    Depart from Kusadasi port to start your 3-night Greek Islands cruise. Sail to Patmos, called the Jerusalem of the Aegean Sea and the sacred island where Saint John wrote the Revelations. If you'd like, there's an optional visit to the Monastery and Cave. Dinner and live entertainment happen on board tonight.

In medieval Rhodes, explore the Citadel of the Crusaders built by the Knights of Saint John. You'll stay on the cruise ship overnight.

In the afternoon, travel to Santorini for its impressive views, with an optional excursion to the village of Oia available. Dinner and live entertainment happen on board. Note: In March and November, the cruise skips Crete.

Check out the vibrant street life, cafes, taverns, and shops throughout the city. There's an optional guided walk and dinner show available in the afternoon if you want it.

    Athens

    Take a city tour of Athens that includes the Kalimarmaro, Arch of Hadrian, Parliament building, and the Monument of the Unknown Soldier with its traditional Changing of the Guard ceremony at Constitution Square. You'll also see Concorde Square and Omonia Square. Then head to the Acropolis to see the Propylaea, the Ionic temple of Athena Nike, the Erechtheion, and the Parthenon. The afternoon is free to explore more.
