Itinerary
- Day 1
Dublin to Meath
You'll make your own way to Dublin and then drive toward Meath, around 100 km (2 hours) to your overnight stop. Along the route, you can check out the Boyne Valley's ancient sites like Newgrange and Knowth, stop by Monasterboice's historic ruins, or see the Hill of Tara and Mellifont Abbey if time allows. The drive itself takes you through Irish countryside with plenty of options to explore before settling into the Meath region.

- Day 2
Meath to Mayo
Today you're driving through County Mayo, about 300 km (4 hours) to your 2-night stay. On the way, you can take detours to Trim Castle, Strokestown Park House with its walled gardens, or the Rathcrogan Visitor Center at Cruachan Aí, which was Connacht's ancient capital. The route gives you flexibility to stop and explore historic sites or keep moving depending on what interests you most.

Achill Island
Start by visiting the Céide Fields archaeological site, then head to Achill Island, Ireland's largest island. You'll have about 280 km (4 hours) to cover. Once there, you can walk along one of the Blue Flag beaches and wander through the local villages, or optionally visit Westport House, a historic manor that's over 400 years old. The route takes you to some of Mayo's most distinctive coastal scenery.

Achill Island to Connemara
You'll drive through Connemara today, roughly 90 km (2.5 hours) to your overnight stay. This route shows off the region's dark moors, clear lakes, and dramatic mountains really well. You can stop at Kylemore Abbey on Lough Pollacopall, take a boat tour through Killary Harbour (Ireland's only fjord), or explore the grounds around Ashford Castle. The scenery changes constantly as you drive through this part of Galway.

Connemara to Kerry
Head to Galway first, known for the Claddagh Ring, then move into the Burren region with its unusual karst landscape. You're looking at 340 km (5.5 hours) to your 2-night stay in Kerry. Along the way, you can visit Aillwee Limestone Cave, the dramatic Cliffs of Moher, or Bunratty Castle with its 19th-century Irish village recreations. This day covers a lot of ground and offers several worthwhile stops depending on your interests.

Killarney
Today you'll drive the Ring of Kerry, one of Europe's most scenic routes. You'll pass through Killorglin and Glenbeigh with coastal views and mountain scenery throughout. The route takes you over Coomakista Pass and Moll's Gap back to Killarney, and you'll stop at Ladies View for panoramic views of Killarney National Park. In the afternoon, you'll tour Muckross House & Gardens, a 19th-century Victorian villa with beautiful grounds surrounding it.

Killarney to Dublin
You'll head back to Dublin via Cashel, about 350 km (4.5 hours). On the way, you can optionally visit the Rock of Cashel, an impressive church ruin known as the 'Irish Acropolis.' Once in Dublin, you have several options in the afternoon or evening: the Guinness Storehouse, a hop-on hop-off city tour, or a whiskey distillery visit. The drive gives you time to reflect on the trip before returning to the city.
