Washington DC
This is a full day exploring DC. You'll see the US Capitol, Supreme Court, Library of Congress, and FBI buildings in the morning. If you want to explore further, you can check out Smithsonian museums or take a walk along the Potomac River on your own.

Washington DC to Roanoke
Travel to Williamsburg, Virginia's colonial capital. Walk through Duke of Gloucester Street to see colonial-era public buildings and houses from centuries past. You have the option to visit the College of William and Mary if you're interested. Later, head to Roanoke for the night, a drive of roughly 386 km, so you'll pass through some nice countryside along the way.
