Itinerary
- Day 1
Joensuu
You'll arrive at Joensuu Railway Station and head to Lietsu Hotel in the city centre. It's a nice place with genuine Karelian hospitality, right in the heart of Eastern Finland, so you won't have far to go to settle in and get your bearings.
- Day 2
Koli National Park
This morning you'll drive out to Koli National Park for a guided tour. You get to see three major viewpoints, Ukko-Koli, Akka-Koli and Paha-Koli, each offering different perspectives over Lake Pielinen. After checking out the Nature Centre Ukko and walking through the Koli Sculpture Garden, you'll head to your accommodation for the night.

- Day 3
Juuka to Nurmes
After breakfast, you'll drive through the East Finnish landscape toward Juuka village, stopping at Puu-Juuka and the Stone Center to see traditional wooden architecture. Then it's on to Nurmes where you can walk around the historic Puu-Nurmes wooden house area with lake views before arriving at your spa hotel.

- Day 4
Lieksa Whitewater Rafting
Following breakfast, you're heading to the Ruunaa area near Lieksa for whitewater rafting on the Lieksanjoki River. The trip covers roughly 30 km and takes about 4 hours from Matkalahti to Naarajoki bridge, and there's an outdoor lunch included. You'll finish at a rustic lodge with dinner and sauna access.

- Day 5
Eva Ryynänen Atelier and Wildlife Watching
After eating, you'll visit the Paateri atelier and museum to see sculptor Eva Ryynainen's work, including her timber church and personal pieces. Later in the afternoon, you'll drive to Keljänpuro for an evening wildlife watching session in observation lodges with coffee and snacks provided.

Return to Joensuu
You'll have breakfast at Keljänpuro Lodge after 8 am, then spend time resting after your wildlife night. From there, you'll drive back to Joensuu and check into Lietsu Hotel for your final stay. If you want to fill some time, the Market Place, Joensuu Art Museum Onni, the North Karelian Museum Hilma, and Botania butterfly gardens are all nearby.
