Itinerary
- Day 1
Arrival
You'll arrive in Costa Rica and have the afternoon to get settled at your hotel. Mid-afternoon check-in gives you time to drop your bags and get your bearings before dinner.
- Day 2
San José to Tortuguero National Park
Head east through Braulio Carrillo National Park toward the Caribbean lowlands, then transfer to a boat for the journey into Tortuguero. The canal ride takes you through thick jungle where you'll see wildlife and pass through the village. Stop to learn about sea turtle conservation and how locals live in this remote area.

- Day 3
Tortuguero National Park
Start early with a guided boat ride looking for freshwater turtles, caimans, herons, toucans, egrets, and monkeys in the canals and waterways. Later, take a walk through the rainforest where you might spot endangered green turtles nesting if you visit during peak season. The day ends with a presentation covering the ecology and wildlife of Tortuguero.

Tortuguero to Arenal
Travel by boat and car to Arenal, the town near Arenal Volcano. In the afternoon, you'll soak in the natural hot springs fed by mineral-rich waters and surrounded by tropical forest. Dinner happens right there at the springs, so you can relax and enjoy the warm water as the evening sets in.

- Day 5
Arenal
This day is yours to spend however you want. If you're looking for activities, optional excursions include hanging bridges through the cloud forest, rafting trips, or horseback riding through the area around Arenal.

Arenal to Monteverde Cloud Forest
Take a short boat ride across Arenal Lake where you'll watch for different bird species. From there, drive through mountain scenery heading toward Monteverde Cloud Forest. Once you arrive, join a naturalist for a night walk searching for sloths, foxes, frogs, and other nocturnal creatures active after dark.

Monteverde

Monteverde to San José
Drive back to San Jose for your last night. Head to the Central Market, a busy local hub with over 350 vendor booths selling spices, fresh fish, hammocks, flowers, and everything else. It's the real San Jose, not a tourist spot, so you get a feel for how locals actually shop and move through the city.
