- Sabina· December 9th, 2022I had a great time in Mauritius on this 7 night break. The tour operator was very helpful and kept in touch throughout, and the day trip incorporated into the main trip was very enjoyable with a lovely tour guide. Transfers from and to the airport went very smoothly with friendly. I also booked 3 additional tours through the tour operator, all of which showed me so many sides to the island in terms of History, demographics, core industries. The hotel was more run down than expected from their website but the room was spacious and comfortable. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful given I seemed to be the only solo traveller there. My key disappointment was in the quality of the taste of the food at the hotel; desserts were done very well but the flavours for starters and main courses were lacking. Also I found it unusual that there was no bottled water provided as a matter of courtesy. I felt initially confined to the hotel for food but eventually navigated the local bus system which is very good to get to the main town of Grand Baie. This would have been great information provided at the start of my trip. Mauritius is a fabulous island, the beaches are beautiful, the local people have a wonderful vibe, the weather was excellent.
