Itinerary
- Day 1
Gosau
You'll arrive in the Gosau Valley, one of the major mountain regions in the Northern Alps. After settling into your accommodation, you receive your travel documents and get oriented to the area. The valley holds two lakes and became a UNESCO World Heritage Site back in 1997, so you're in a protected and historically significant spot.

Hofpürgl Hut
This is a challenging hiking day that starts from Lake Gosau and takes you up through scree gullies and mountain pine. The trail goes past the Scharwand Hut and chapel, then through the Ahornkar and Eisgrube gorges to Steigl Pass at 2,018 meters, the high point where the views really open up. Coming down involves a rope-secured section that needs careful footing, and you'll see the Bischofsmütze peaks from the descent to Hofpürgl Hut.

Gosau
After breakfast early on, you cross the gap around Bischofsmütze and reach Stuhlalm, a rustic alpine pasture with great views. From there the high-altitude trail continues over roots and mountain scree, passing through high-mountain beech forest before arriving at Gablonzer Hütter, where the panoramic views are really something. The return trek brings you back down to Gosau and wraps up your hiking tour.

Gosau
At this point you can either book extra nights to stay in the Inner Salzkammergut region, or head back home today. If you're sticking around, there's an optional visit to Löckermoos, a unique blanket bog in Austria that's easy to reach on a marked path.
