Itinerary
- Day 1
Ramsau
You'll arrive in Ramsau and settle into your accommodation with direct views of the Dachstein massif rising up before you. This first day is relatively relaxed, giving you time to check in, get oriented, and prepare for the hiking ahead.
Landmarks/POIs Dachstein Massif - Day 2
Ramsau
Two options are available depending on your preference. The valley route covers 6.5 km over 4-5 hours with continuous views of Dachstein throughout. Alternatively, you can take a cable car up and then hike the plateau for 9.5 km over 4-5 hours, finishing at Guttenberghaus mountain hut where you'll spend the night. Either way, your luggage gets transported ahead to Gröbming for Day 3.

- Hike in the valley directly from hotel via Anton Baum Trail (approx. 6.5 km, 4-5 hours, elevation gain/loss: 1044/69 m)
- Ascent with Dachstein cable car and hike across plateau 'Am Stein' to Guttenberghaus (approx. 9.5 km, 4-5 hours, elevation gain/loss: 264/861 m)
Landmarks/POIs Anton Baum Trail Guttenberghaus - Day 3
Guttenberghaus to Gröbming
This day involves a full day of hiking with about 13 km of walking spread across 6 hours. You'll gain roughly 552 meters in elevation and descend about 860 meters, so there's a fair bit of vertical movement but nothing extreme for an experienced hiker.

Gröbming to Bad Mitterndorf
Starting from Stoderzinken, you'll walk through the Notgasse rock gorge where you can see ancient rock carvings dating back as far as 2,000 years. The route continues through Viehbergalm and Hochmühleck before reaching Steinitzenalm, then you descend down to Bad Mitterndorf. This is a longer day covering about 22 km over 7 hours with 627 meters of elevation gain and 1,590 meters of descent. Your bags will be waiting in Bad Mitterndorf.

Bad Mitterndorf to Hallstatt
You'll catch a train from Bad Mitterndorf to Bad Aussee in the morning. From there, a hike takes you through Koppental Valley following alongside the Traun River all the way to Obertraun and eventually Hallstatt train station. If you're interested, there's an optional detour to check out the Koppenbräller Cave. After that, you'll take a ferry crossing to Hallstatt itself, where your luggage will be arranged to meet you.

Landmarks/POIs Koppental Valley Traun River Obertraun Koppenbräller Cave Hallstatt - Day 6
Hallstatt to Gosau
Ride the funicular from Hallstatt-Lahn station up to the entrance of the Hallstatt Salt Mines. After exploring (or if you prefer to skip it), you'll hike via Rossalm to reach Gosau, completing this section of your journey.

Gosau
This is the final day of your tour, allowing you to either depart or spend time reflecting on the week of hiking and mountain scenery you've experienced through this region.
