Itinerary
- Day 1
Kathmandu
Your guide picks you up from your hotel or meets you at Nursing Chowk in Thamel to start exploring Kathmandu. First, you'll head to Durbar Square where the palaces showcase incredible woodcarvings and you can see Kumari, the living goddess, in her temple. After that, wander through the old shops on Freak Street, which has an eclectic mix of boutiques and cafes. Later in the morning, you'll climb up to Swayambhunath, often called the Monkey Temple because of the rhesus monkeys hanging around the area. The temple sits high enough to give you nice views over the valley. From there, you'll go to Boudhanath, one of the largest Buddhist stupas in the world, and grab lunch at a restaurant overlooking it so you can eat something savory while taking in the atmosphere. To finish your day, your guide takes you to Pashupati temple complex, a sacred site where you'll learn more about Nepal's spiritual traditions and history along the way.
