Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Kathmandu

    After you land at Kathmandu International Airport, a driver will be waiting to take you to your hotel. This first day is really just about settling in and getting some rest after your journey, so there's nothing scheduled beyond that.

  2. Day 2

    Kathmandu

    You'll head out for a morning sightseeing tour around Kathmandu that runs about 4 to 5 hours. The route takes you through several world heritage sites including temples, monasteries, stupas, and the old royal palace courtyard where you'll see how the city has developed over centuries.

  3. Day 3

    Kathmandu to Lukla to Phakding

    Early morning flight to Lukla gives you views of the mountains including Mt. Everest from the plane. After landing and taking some time to adjust, you'll start walking to Phakding village on your first trekking day, passing through farm villages and seeing the surrounding landscape.

  4. Day 4

    Phakding to Namche Bazaar

    Today you trek from Phakding across the Dudh Kosi River and walk through villages like Toc-Toc, Bhenkar, and Monjo to reach Sagarmatha National Park. After crossing a bridge and climbing uphill, you'll arrive at Namche Bazaar where there are restaurants, shops, a post office, and internet cafes to explore.

    Namche Bazaar

    This is your acclimatization day, so you're staying put in Namche but can do light activity. You might walk up to Everest View Hotel or head to the Namche viewpoint for views of Mt. Everest and nearby peaks, and you can visit the Sagarmatha National Park museum.

    Namche Bazaar to Dole

    From Namche, you trek toward Gokyo Lake with steady climbing and walking. The trail goes north up to Mong hilltop at 3,973m/13,035ft, then drops down to Phortse Thanghka before moving through rhododendron forest to Dole where you'll spend the night with views of Khumbila and Tawache.

  7. Day 7

    Dole to Machherma

    You walk along a level valley path to Lhabarma Kharka at 4,325m/14,190ft, then continue to Luza at 4,390m/14,400ft. After skirting around a ridge and heading downhill, you reach Machherma for lunch and overnight. The afternoon gives you time to rest and take a short hike with views of Mt. Cho Oyo at 8,210m/26,960ft.

    From Machherma, you follow a scenic path to Pangka at 4,545m/14,910ft, then climb over rocky terrain into the ablation valley and past the first and second lakes before reaching Gokyo Lake at 4,790m/15,715ft. The afternoon is free to rest and walk around the lake area.

    An early start takes you hiking up to Gokyo Ri at 5,357m/17,572ft for views of multiple high peaks including Mt. Everest, Mt. Lhotse, Cholatse, Taweche, and Mt. Makalu. After coming back down to Gokyo for lunch, the rest of the afternoon is yours to relax and enjoy the scenery.

    Gokyo to Thaknak

    You walk for a few hours from Gokyo to Thaknak at the base of the Tsho-la pass near Na village at the foot of Ngozumba glacier. The afternoon is free for rest and preparation since tomorrow you'll be doing an early morning climb over the pass.

  11. Day 11

    Thaknak to Dzong-la

    Before sunrise you start a challenging climb over the Cho-la pass, walking over rocky moraine (and potentially snow depending on season). After reaching the top surrounded by Cholatse, Nirekha, and Taboche peaks, you descend to a small valley at Dzong-la for the night.

  12. Day 12

    Dzong-la to Lobuche

    After yesterday's hard work, today's trek is moderate with gentle walking through valleys with good mountain views. Near Thugla where the Khumbu glacier becomes a river, the trail from Pheriche joins yours. After a short rest, an hour-long walk brings you to Lobuche for overnight.

  13. Day 13

    Lobuche to Everest Base Camp

    This is your final push to Everest Base Camp. You walk moderately for a few hours, then climb over glacier and moraine to Gorakshep at the bottom of Mt. Pumori. From there you continue to Everest Base Camp near the Khumbu glacier to see the Ice Fall and views from base camp itself, then return to Gorakshep.

    Gorakshep to Pheriche

    In the morning you climb to Kalapathar at 5,545m/18,192ft, the highest point on this trek, with close views of Mt. Everest and surrounding peaks. After spending time at this vantage point, you descend back to Gorakshep for breakfast, then trek downhill to Pheriche for overnight.

  15. Day 15

    Pheriche to Thyangboche

    The return journey starts with easy downhill walking through Pangboche. After crossing a bridge, you climb for about two hours to reach Thyangboche Monastery set among high peaks with views of Mt. Everest, Lhotse, and Ama-Dablam. You can go inside to watch monks at prayer and chanting.

    Thyangboche to Monjo

    You retrace your steps back to Shanasha where the trails from Khumjung and Gokyo meet. Following the main path downhill and on gradual terrain, you'll reach Namche Bazaar, then continue retracing the route to Monjo for overnight near the Sagarmatha National Park entrance.

  17. Day 17

    Monjo to Lukla

    The last trek day takes you through green scenery with a few short climbs. There's one longer climb of about 45 minutes before reaching Lukla. Once you arrive, you'll have dinner with your Sherpa crew, porters, and trekking team to celebrate finishing the trek.

  18. Day 18

    Lukla to Kathmandu

    An early morning flight takes you back to Kathmandu in about 35 minutes with scenic views of snowcapped peaks. Weather can cause delays, but the flight usually departs early to avoid afternoon winds. Upon landing at the domestic terminal, staff will transfer you back to your hotel.

  19. Day 19

    Kathmandu

    This day is held as a backup in case the Lukla flight got delayed or cancelled due to weather. If flights went smoothly and your itinerary stayed on track, this day is free for your own activities, or you can take an optional tour around Kathmandu to visit places you might have missed.

    Kathmandu to Airport

    • For any tour departing before February 6th, 2026 a full payment is necessary. For tours departing after February 6th, 2026, a minimum payment of 20% is required to confirm your booking with Visit Himalaya Treks Pvt. Ltd. The final payment will be automatically charged to your credit card on the designated due date. The final payment of the remaining balance is required at least 60 days prior to the departure date of your tour. TourRadar never charges you a booking fee and will charge you in the stated currency.
