Itinerary
- Day 1
Kathmandu to Dharapani
Leave Kathmandu around 7 am after breakfast and spend the day driving along the Kathmandu-Pokhara Highway. You'll pass through Dumre and follow the Marshyangdi River valley on narrow paved roads, then reach Besisahar where things get dustier but the mountain views really open up. The drive takes about 9-10 hours total before you arrive in Dharapani.

Landmarks Marshyangdi River - Day 2
Dharapani to Bagarchhap to Latamarang
Start trekking through pine and fir forests early in the morning toward Bagarchhap, which takes roughly an hour. Stop at the whitewashed monastery in the village, then continue walking through the forests for another hour and a half to reach Latamarang. Along the way you'll pass monasteries and villages while taking in views of Annapurna II, Manaslu, and other peaks.

Landmarks Bagarchhap Monastery Annapurna II Manaslu - Day 3
Latamarang to Dharmasala
Head to the Police Check Post in the morning to register your restricted area permit. After that, trek along the Soti Khola riverbank through pine forests, streams, and past suspension bridges. The path takes you through woods, by small cave shelters and pilgrims' resting spots, then under a wide waterfall as you emerge from a narrow canyon. The landscape opens up with wider views before you reach Dharmasala.

Landmarks Soti Khola - Day 4
Dharmasala to Phu
Trek from Dharmasala to Phu and start seeing colorful Tibetan Buddhist chortens as you get closer. You'll get your first look at the three villages in the area, including the old dzong (Tibetan-style fortress) and the remains of two ruined forts sitting impressively on the flatlands just before Phu village.

Landmarks Phu Village Dzong - Day 5
Phu (Acclimatization Day)
This is a rest day for altitude acclimatization. Check out Tashi Lakhang Monastery, an old Buddhist monastery and one of the world's 108 great Buddhist monasteries believed to be the last one built by Karmapa Rinpoche. Spend time around the village watching residents spin yak and sheep wool or pound mustard seeds into paste for oil.

Landmarks Tashi Lakhang Monastery Himlung Himal - Day 6
Phu to Nar Phedi Monastery
Head back down from Phu toward Meta, then turn off at Nar Phedi monastery where you'll sleep for the night. The monastery is basically all that Nar Phedi is. On the way you'll see peaks of Kang Garu and Pisang Peak and pass two chortens. If you arrive by 5 pm, you can attend the puja, a blessing ceremony.

Landmarks Nar Phedi Monastery Kang Garu Pisang Peak - Day 7
Nar Phedi Monastery to Nar
This trekking day is very gentle. Climb out of Nar Phedi and follow a winding path up a hill toward Nar village. Cross a line of beautifully painted, bamboo-topped chortens as you enter this ancient village.

Landmarks Nar Village - Day 8
Nar to Kang La Pass to Pisang
Start your Kang La Pass hike early to avoid wind. The pass sits at 5,240m and isn't technically difficult but can turn into a long day if there's snow or altitude effects. From this high pass you'll see Annapurna II, Gangapurna, Tilicho Peak, other surrounding peaks, and the airport at Hongde. The trail down starts steep then gradually becomes easier as elevations drop.

- Day 9
Pisang to Besisahar
The weather turns warmer and landscapes greener as you descend over 3,000m from the pass. Set off early for the last few hours of trekking to reach Pisang. The trail is wide and pleasant, passing a beautiful lake just outside Pisang. Grab lunch there, then take a jeep to Besisahar for your final night.

Landmarks Pisang Lake - Day 10
Besisahar to Kathmandu
Drive back to Kathmandu, which takes around five hours. After arriving, take a hot shower and settle back into city comforts. Spend your afternoon shopping for souvenirs in Thamel or just relax after the trek.
