Itinerary
- Day 1
Munich
You'll arrive in Munich and settle into your accommodation, then participate in a welcome briefing and bike fitting to prepare for the week. The afternoon and evening are open for you to explore the city at your own pace. The English Garden is one of the largest urban parks in the world, so you could spend a few hours there, or check out the Marienplatz area where Town Hall sits with its Gothic architecture. If you want a more traditional experience, the Hofbräuhaus is a historic beer hall that's been operating since 1589 and offers that classic Bavarian atmosphere and local food.

Munich to Murnau am Staffelsee
Today marks the start of your cycling journey, and you'll head south from Munich through Forstenrieder Park before reaching Lake Starnberg. The route follows the lakeside to Seeshaupt, taking you through several smaller Bavarian villages along the way. After that, you'll pedal through the area around Osterseen and Lake Riegsee, both nice spots with clear water and green surroundings. By evening you'll arrive in Murnau am Staffelsee, a town known for its art community and views of the nearby mountains. This is a longer riding day, so plan for a solid meal and rest afterward.

Murnau am Staffelsee to Garmisch-Partenkirchen
You'll cycle through Murnauer Moos, which is the largest swamp area in Central Europe and offers unique wildlife viewing opportunities. From there, the route follows the River Loisach as it heads toward Garmisch-Partenkirchen, so you'll have a scenic water feature to guide you. This is a shorter cycling day, which gives you flexibility. If you're interested in seeing the Alps from a different perspective, the Zugspitzbahn mountain railway takes you up to 2,962 meters (9,718 feet), where the views on clear days extend across the Alpine range. Otherwise, you'll have time to relax and explore the town or rest for the next day's ride.

Garmisch-Partenkirchen to Wallgau
Starting from Garmisch-Partenkirchen, you have two routing options. The direct route heads to Barmsee via Klais, which is a more straightforward ride. If you want more of a challenge, you can go through Mittenwald and Scharnitz to reach the Isar source, climbing through alpine meadows and gorges along the way before dropping down into Wallgau. That longer option gives you a chance to see high-altitude Bavarian landscape and experience areas where traditional culture is still part of everyday life. Either way, you'll end the day in a small mountain village setting.

Wallgau to Bad Tölz
You'll ride through Isarwinkel and then follow the shoreline of Lake Sylvenstein, which has distinctive turquoise water. The landscape around the lake is quiet and rural, with the Isar River nearby for much of the route. After passing Lenggries, you'll continue to Bad Tölz, a historic town that prospered as a major trading center centuries ago. The architecture reflects that prosperity, with ornate mansions and period buildings throughout the old town. It's worth spending some time walking around the town center if you have energy left after riding, or just grab dinner somewhere local and recover.

The final stretch is your return to where the tour started. Once you're back in the city, you'll have your last day to check out any attractions you missed or didn't have time for on day one. The Neuschwanstein Palace day trip is popular if you want to venture out, though it's about two hours from Munich. Otherwise, walking through different neighborhoods, visiting museums, or just having a leisurely café experience works well for a final day.
