Itinerary
- Day 1
Shanghai to Huangshan
Board a 3-hour bullet train from Shanghai to Huangshan Station early in the morning. Your local guide meets you at the station and takes you straight up to the mountain. Spend the day working your way through Huangshan's peaks using the cable car system. You'll see unusual rock formations, ancient pines that are over 200 years old, and the sea of clouds rolling through the valleys. Look for locations you'll recognize from Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, including the bamboo forest areas. Head back down the mountain as evening approaches.

- Day 2
Huangshan to Hongcun Village
Have breakfast, then continue exploring Huangshan with visits to Lion Peak, Dawn Pavilion, and Stone Monkey Watching the Sea. Scenic pines line the routes throughout the day. If hiking interests you, the West Sea Grand Canyon route offers a good option to explore. Later in the afternoon, travel to Hongcun Village, an old settlement with more than 800 years of history and traditional Hui style architecture still intact. Spend the rest of the day wandering the village, looking at local handicrafts, and trying regional food for dinner. Sleep in the village overnight.

- Day 3
Tangmo Village to Shanghai
After breakfast, head to Tangmo Village to try traditional Chinese activities like ancient paper-making and scripture rubbing. An expert guide shows you how ancestors made paper 2000 years ago as one of China's Four Great Inventions, and you'll create your own handmade paper work. In the afternoon, take the bullet train back to Shanghai.
