- Day 1
Kathmandu to Lukla to Phakding
Early pickup from your hotel takes you to the airport for a small aircraft flight to Lukla. You'll see the Himalayan range including Mount Everest from the air before landing at Tenzing-Hillary Airport. After settling in, you trek on easy downhill paths through the terrain to reach Phakding village, where you'll spend your first night in Sherpa country.

Phakding to Namche Bazaar
Morning walk toward Sagarmatha National Park entrance takes you across bridges to Jorsalle village. You'll grab lunch, then trek through a forested river bed and cross a high bridge before tackling a steep uphill section on winding trails. By afternoon, you arrive at Namche Bazaar, the main hub of this region, and have time to walk through the shops and streets.

Namche Bazaar
You're staying in Namche Bazaar to let your body adjust to the altitude. There's an option for a challenging four-hour round-trip hike to Everest View Hotel if you want mountain views, or take short walks to nearby viewpoints. Later, head to the museum that covers Khumbu Sherpa culture and mountaineering history. The rest of the day is yours to explore at your own pace.

Namche Bazaar to Thyangboche
Morning walk includes a short climb on good trails with views of Everest and Amadablam. You trek through woodlands and descend toward Imjatse River for a possible lunch break. In the afternoon, the trail climbs into forested areas before reaching Thyangboche monastery, which sits on an open plateau surrounded by high peaks. You can visit the monastery and see monks during their religious activities.

Thyangboche to Dingboche
Morning takes you downhill through green forested areas to Dingboche, crossing a steel bridge over Imjatse River. As the trees end, the landscape turns windswept and arid as you walk past Pangboche, the last permanent village before Everest Base Camp. After gentle ups and downs and crossing a river, you climb for about an hour to reach Dingboche in the Imjatse valley, with Island Peak visible to the east.

Dingboche
This is another rest day in the Imjatse valley for acclimatization. If you want to push yourself, there's a few-hour hike up to Nakarjun Hill at 5,100 m for panoramic views of peaks including Mt. Makalu and Island Peak. Otherwise, the afternoon is free to wander around Dingboche and take in the mountain scenery.

Dingboche to Lobuche
After resting, morning walk leads to Kongma-La, your first high pass at above 5,535 m. You'll climb on gentle trails between Nuptse and Pokalde peaks to reach the pass base. Following a rest, you tackle the rocky moraine with some ice sections to hit the highest point. From there, you descend across Khumbu glaciers over moraine and icy paths to reach Lobuche at the corner of a wide valley.

Lobuche to Everest Base Camp to Gorak-Shep
This is the day you've been working toward. Morning walk follows a flat valley with gradual climbing, then a steep push to a ridge near Khumbu glacier. You trek over rocky moraines and ice to reach Gorak-Shep for a break, then continue east to Everest Base Camp. You'll see the Khumbu Ice-Falls, glaciers, and surrounding peaks, and during April-May, the camp fills with expedition tents. After celebrating, you trek back to Gorak-Shep for the night.

Gorak-Shep to Dzongla
Early morning climb to Kalapattar at 5,545 m, the highest point of your trek, rewards you with close-up views of Everest and Mt. Pumori along with surrounding peaks. After this moment at the summit, you head back to Gorak-Shep for breakfast. The day continues downhill to Lobuche and onward, climbing above Thugla where your route diverts toward Dzongla at the base of Chola Pass for the night.

Dzongla to Thangnag
This is one of the bigger trekking days as you cross the high Cho-la pass at 5,367 m. Morning leads to a steep climb crossing a glacier on the eastern side, then with rests along the way, you gradually reach the top. The pass can be challenging in snow but offers views of Cholatse and its glacier. You carefully descend to Thangnag for overnight after crossing this second major pass.

Thangnag to Gokyo
After successfully crossing Cho-la, morning brings an easy walk following the main Gokyo trail beneath Ngozumba glacier. You gradually trek to Gokyo Lake, also called Dudh Pokhari, and reach the summer settlement of Gokyo above 4,700 meters high on the shore of the lake.

Gokyo
Morning offers an option to hike to Gokyo Ri at 5,483 m for panoramic views of the highest peaks including Mt. Cho Oyo, Gyachung Kang, Everest, Lhotse, Cholatse, Taweche, and Mt. Makalu. After the grand vista, you descend back to Gokyo. The free afternoon lets you relax and prepare for the final high pass, Renjo-La.

Gokyo to Lunden
Starting early before dawn, you walk beside the main Gokyo lake to reach the base of Renjo-la, your last high pass. A steep climb for several hours gets you to the top with fantastic views of high peaks. After enjoying the views, you descend over rocky moraine and grassy paths on a long downhill to reach Lunden, a small isolated spot on the route toward Thame and the high Nangpa-la pass leading to Tibet.

Landmarks Renjo-la Pass Gokyo Lake - Day 14
Lunden to Thame
This is a gentle and pleasant walk after completing all three high passes. You descend past yak grazing areas and herder shelters to reach Bhote Kosi river at Marlung farm village. The good trail continues for several hours to remote Thame village, one of the least visited areas by other trekkers. Visit Thame's interesting monastery, believed to be over 600 years old and one of the oldest in the Khumbu area.

Landmarks Bhote Kosi River Thame Monastery - Day 15
Thame to Namche Bazaar
Easy walk from Thame with a few short climbs and mostly near-flat ground on good trails. After Thamo village, where the Khumbu hydroelectric plant is located, the trail heads back into green vegetation and tree lines. A good walk brings you back to Namche Bazaar for your last night in Khumbu before heading to Lukla.

Namche Bazaar to Lukla
Final trekking day with a long descent to reach Lukla. You start by descending to a river valley and Sagarmatha National Park entrance at Monjo village. From there, the path continues past Phakding with a last short climb to reach Lukla for your overnight before the flight back.

Lukla to Kathmandu
After breakfast in Lukla, you head to Tenzing-Hillary Airport for the scenic short flight back to Kathmandu. Once you land, a transfer takes you to your hotel to finish your trek.
