Itinerary
- Day 1
Nairobi to Old Moses Camp
You'll leave Nairobi early in the morning and head toward Sirimon Gate. The drive takes you through Nanyuki, where you'll stop for lunch and get your equipment briefing sorted out. This is when you'll meet your mountain crew and the porters who'll be supporting the trek. After that, you start walking through montane forest and bamboo zones, climbing about 740m (2,430 feet) in elevation before reaching Old Moses Camp for the night.

Old Moses Camp to Shipton's Camp
After an early breakfast, you're looking at a tough 7 to 8 hour trek that gains around 900m (2,950 feet). The landscape shifts dramatically as you move through Mackinder Valley, where you'll see unusual alpine plants like giant lobelia and groundsel scattered across the terrain. By evening you'll reach Shipton's Camp, which sits just below the glaciers and peaks, so you're getting close to the summit area now.

Shipton's Camp to Point Lenana to Old Moses Camp
This is the big day. You're starting at 3am in the dark with your headtorch, tackling frozen scree and rocky terrain to reach Point Lenana at 4,985m (16,355 feet) right around sunrise. The view of the African dawn from up there is what this whole climb builds toward. After some time celebrating at the top, you'll descend back to Shipton's Camp for brunch, then keep going down to Old Moses Camp. It's a long, demanding day but the kind that stays with you.

Old Moses Camp to Nairobi
You'll have breakfast and then walk down through rainforest toward Sirimon Park Gate, where you'll sign out and meet your vehicle. From there it's the drive back through Nanyuki and then on to Nairobi, finishing up your Mount Kenya trek.
