Itinerary
- Day 1
Arrival in Kathmandu
You'll arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport and get transferred to your hotel in Kathmandu. This evening there's a welcome dinner at a local restaurant where you'll try traditional Nepalese food and get a briefing about what's coming on the trek ahead.

- Day 2
Kathmandu to Lukla to Phakding
An early 40-minute flight takes you from Kathmandu to Lukla at 2,800m/9,200 ft, with mountain views the whole way. After landing, depending on timing, you'll grab lunch before starting an easy 3-4 hour trek down to Phakding. Later you can walk around the village before heading to your lodge.

Phakding to Namche Bazaar
After breakfast you trek 5-6 hours through forests along the Dudh Koshi River, crossing it twice along the way. You'll pass through Monjo, which marks the gateway to Sagarmatha National Park, then continue to Jorsalle village before arriving at Namche Bazaar, the main trade hub and capital of the Khumbu region at 3,440m/11,280 ft.

Acclimatization Day in Namche Bazaar
Today's an acclimatization day at 3,440m/11,280 ft to help your body adjust to altitude. You can walk up to Everest View Point Hotel for views of the mountains, wander through Namche Bazaar to see how the community lives, check out the Saturday Market if timing works, or visit the Sherpa Museum to learn about local culture and mountaineering history.

Namche Bazaar to Tyangboche
After breakfast, you trek 5-6 hours through forests with steady climbing. The trail opens up to show you Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, and Kwangde as you move higher. By late afternoon you reach Tyangboche with its large monastery and excellent views of Ama Dablam rising from your accommodation area.

Tyangboche to Dingboche
The path heads down to Deboche first, then climbs through rhododendron forest. After crossing a valley and plains, you reach Dingboche. This 5-6 hour day is relatively straightforward walking that brings you closer to higher altitude terrain.

Acclimatization Day in Dingboche
At 4,358m/14,300 ft, this is another acclimatization day to prepare your body for further altitude. You can rest completely if needed, or take a couple hours hiking up to Chhukung at 4,730m/15,500 ft, a small settlement surrounded by mountains and glaciers.

Dingboche to Lobuche
Today's a tough one. Though it's only about 4.5 miles, there's serious elevation gain. You trek through alpine meadows and yak pastures, cross the Khumbu Glacier, navigate steep glacier moraine, and continue on rough terrain to reach Lobuche at 4,928m/16,160 ft below the Lhotse Ridge. Hard but worth it.

Lobuche to Gorak Shep to Everest Base Camp
This is the trek's most challenging day. You hike to Gorak Shep, a small village on a frozen lake, for lunch. Then from there it's along the Khumbu Glacier with views of Everest's dark rock face getting closer. You finally reach Everest Base Camp at 5,320m/17,450 ft, over 5,000m above sea level. Spend time exploring the area before returning to Gorak Shep for the night.

Kala Patthar and Return to Pheriche
Start very early to reach Kala Patthar at 5,550m/18,200 ft before sunrise, giving you the best light for watching the sun come up over Everest and other peaks like Nuptse, Ama Dablam, and Pumori. After taking in the views, head back to Gorak Shep and trek down to Pheriche. This 6-7 hour day rewards early risers with incredible mountain vistas.

Pheriche to Kyanjuma
From here on, it's downhill so you can move faster and with less effort. Trek 5-6 hours from Pheriche to Kyanjuma at 3,500m/11,480 ft, enjoying the mountain landscape as you descend. Lower altitude and faster pace make this a more comfortable day on the trail.

Kyanjuma to Khumjung to Monju
You trek 6-7 hours while learning about local mountain communities. Visit a school started by Sir Edmund Hillary, the first person to reach Everest's summit in 1953 with Sherpa Tenzing Norgay, and see a hospital run by a charity. Then descend to Monjo at 2,850m/9,350 ft for the night, getting insights into local culture and humanitarian efforts.

Monju to Lukla
Walk at your own pace back to Lukla over 4-5 hours, returning to where you started the trek. You'll feel a mix of emotions, happy about finishing and experiencing the trek but also sad to leave it behind. This evening there's a celebration with singing and dancing, and you stay at a hotel in Lukla.

Lukla to Kathmandu
Catch the earliest flight back to Kathmandu. After arrival, your guide transfers you to your hotel where you can relax. This evening you'll have dinner at a good Nepalese restaurant, a good chance to talk through your experiences and share feedback about the whole trek.

Departure from Kathmandu
