Customer Reviews
- Cath· June 18th, 2024As a solo traveller this tour gave me security. The process was seamless and the stays all exceeded my expectations. One note to travellers, make sure that stays don't charge you for dinner that is included in the package. But overall, very worth the upfront costs.Show more
- Ellen· October 18th, 2021Walking the Camino to Santiago de Compostela is an amazing experience. This self guided tour was a wonderful way to do it. The stops were well spaced out and the hotels were clean, comfortable and efficient. The food was adequate and at times quite good. The luggage service was fantastic. It was great hiking with just a day pack knowing your luggage would be at your hotel when you arrived at the end of the day. We found the maps and notes provided difficult to follow but extremely useful to get back on track if one gets “lost”. In general, the Camino was extremely well marked and one could follow the signs easily. Google maps was helpful finding our hotels which were not always directly on the way. Our stop in Padron was less than ideal - The Hotel Rosalia was quite a distance from town, was located directly across from the train station, and was a ways off the Camino. The room had a very strong odor of disinfectant that didn’t disperse with all the windows open. Other than that, the hotels were quite good and all were very clean. A special shout out to Hotel Restaurante Costa Verde in Viladesuso for the excellent fish.Show more
- Jo· April 25th, 2022A most enjoyable tour in a beautiful part of Portugal. Good accommodation throughout with friendly and welcoming hosts. The walks were wonderful with stunning scenery, and we were blessed with perfect walking weather. Highly recommend.Show more

Asked on January 14th, 2025What is the difficulty of this tour, the Camino in Portugal?
- UTracksOperator•Written January 2025
This is a guided walk with average daily stages of 2 to 4 hours on walking days. The trip is graded introductory to moderate as it is mainly on well defined trails, with a few off path sections only. There is diverse terrain – from relatively flat to hilly and walking poles are definitely a good idea. A reasonable level of fitness is required. As with all of our trips it is important that you are well prepared. We suggest that you undertake regular exercise – swimming, cycling, and jogging, two to three times a week for three months prior to your departure.

Asked on July 21st, 2023Will you be offering this tour next year April or May?
- UTracksOperator•Written July 2023
We did have an April and May departure in 2023 so we imagine to have the same next year however our 2024 dates will not be confirmed until September. If you check back then we should have our 2024 dates solidified.

Asked on May 30th, 2023can we get our Compostela on this tour?
- UTracksOperator•Written June 2023
As this tour offers transfers during the walk, it unfortunately is not eligible for the Pilgrim's passport. If you are wanting to do a guided Camino tour, our "Guided Camino Walk - Sarria to Santiago" would be eligible for the Pilgrim's Passport as it walks the last 115km of the Camino route and are lead by a guide.

Judy
Asked on May 26th, 2023At the end of the hike, do we get a completion of pilgrimage stamp/certificate at the Pilgrims Office at Santiago de Compostela
- UTracksOperator•Written June 2023
Unfortunately, the Best of the Portuguese Way is not eligible for the Pilgrim's Passport as there are transfers to different points in the Camino route which do not allow to walk the required consecutive 100km
- S
Stephen
Asked on May 10th, 2023What is the single supplement for this tour?
- UTracksOperator•Written May 2023
For the Best of the Portuguese Way tour the single supplement cost is $530.
