7 Day Slovenia Itinerary, incl. Bled and Triglav National Park
A 7-day active tour covers 4 Slovenian destinations: Bled, Bovec, Triglav National Park, and Kranjska Gora. Activities include Fratarica canyon's waterfalls, Soča River's rapids, and Julian Alps' peaks, with 6 nights in local B&Bs and daily breakfast.
- Day 1
Arrival in Bled
- Day 2
Biking Around Bled
Get an early start with a guided mountain bike tour through Bled's countryside. The morning trails are quieter and cooler. A recent visitor shared: "The trails around Bled offer the perfect mix of challenge and scenery - bring a camera for those postcard-perfect lake views from higher vantage points." Keep your bike for the afternoon to visit spots like Vintgar Gorge just 7km from Bled.
- Day 3
Julian Alps Hiking
Spend a full day hiking in Triglav National Park. The moderate trek takes 6-7 hours round trip to reach one of the accessible peaks. The mountain weather changes quickly so bring layers. Stop for lunch at a mountain hut and try their jota (bean soup) for about $15. The trails can be rocky so wear boots with good ankle support.
- Day 4
Canyoning and Rafting
Take a 1.5-hour transfer to Log pod Mangartom for canyoning in Fratarica Canyon. The water stays cold even in summer so you'll need the wetsuit they provide. After lunch go rafting on the emerald Soča River near Bovec. You'll get safety training before tackling the grade III-IV rapids for 2.5 hours. The drive back through Vršič Pass takes about 2 hours with photo stops.
- Day 5
Via Ferrata Climbing
Head to Gozd Martuljek for via ferrata climbing. You'll follow steel cables through a dramatic gorge. No experience needed but you should be reasonably fit. One climber said: "The via ferrata was challenging but totally manageable with the guide's help. The views of the waterfall made every step worth it."
- Day 6
Rock Climbing
Take the morning to explore Bled Castle or visit the island church by pletna boat. In the afternoon go rock climbing at Bohinjska Bela just 15 minutes from Bled. The limestone walls work for all skill levels with routes from 5a to 7c. They provide equipment but wear comfortable clothes you can move in.
- Day 7
Departure
Have breakfast before heading out. If you have a later flight take a 45-minute uphill walk to Ojstrica viewpoint for final Lake Bled photos. Airport shuttles start running at 4 AM but book at least a day ahead.
7 Days in Slovenia, incl. Ljubljana and Lake Bled
A 7-day Slovenian circuit visits Ljubljana, Piran, Portorož, and Lake Bled. The route includes Postojna Cave's underground realm, Brda region wine tasting, and guided food tours. Package features 6 hotel nights, 6 breakfasts, and expert-led activities.
- Days 1-2
Ljubljana
Begin your Slovenia journey in the inviting capital. Take an evening walk through the historic center on your first day. The riverside walks are beautiful as the sun sets. Use your second day to explore Ljubljana's food scene at the local farmers' market and specialty food shops. Visit Ljubljana Castle later in the afternoon to avoid crowds and enjoy the best views over the city's red-tiled roofs.
- Day 3
Ljubljana to Portorož
- Day 4
Trieste Day Trip
Take a 90-minute drive into Italy to discover Trieste's mix of Habsburg grandeur and Mediterranean style. Try the local "caffè triestino" at one of the old-world cafes. Visit Miramare Castle overlooking the Gulf of Trieste. On your way back stop in Slovenia's Brda wine region to sample their famous Rebula wines among the hillside vineyards.
- Day 5
Postojna Cave and Lake Bled
Start your day at Postojna Cave, just 30-45 minutes from the coast. The cave train makes exploring easy but bring good shoes as the limestone paths can be slick. Head to Lake Bled for the afternoon. Take the 6km lakeside walk for great views of the island church. Start from the western shore to avoid the busiest sections.
- Day 6
Lake Bohinj
- Day 7
Return to Ljubljana
7 Days in Julian Alps, incl. Bled and Triglav National Park
A 7-day mountain route spans 63km from Lake Bled to Bovec. The trail crosses Triglav National Park via four mountain huts, including Vodnik (1,817m) and Prehodavci (2,071m). Mt. Triglav summit attempts and Soča River activities available.
- Day 1
Bled
Begin your Julian Alps adventure in Bled. Take it easy with a 2.5-hour walk to Vintgar Gorge to warm up your legs. A recent trekker shared: "The organisation and communication was smooth, with a detailed in-person briefing that really set us up well for the self-guided journey ahead." Rest well at your Bled hotel before tomorrow's climb.
- Day 2
Pokljuka Plateau to Vodnik Mountain Hut
Take a transfer to Pokljuka plateau (1,347m). The 12km trail to Vodnik Hut climbs 520m over 4-5 hours. You'll carry your gear between huts for the next 4 days so pack light. Follow the well-marked path for your first real taste of Julian Alps terrain. Sleep in basic dormitory-style rooms at Vodnik Hut (1,817m).
- Day 3
Vodnik Hut to Prehodavci Mountain Hut
Choose between two routes: an easier 9km walk through Velska Valley or a more difficult path via Planika Hut with an optional climb up Mt. Triglav (2,864m). The basic route takes 5-6 hours with 800m elevation gain. For Triglav start early and bring via ferrata gear. The exposed sections need proper safety equipment.
- Day 4
Prehodavci to Bogatin Mountain Hut
- Day 5
Bogatin Hut to Krn Lakes Mountain Hut
- Day 6
Krn Lakes to Bovec
- Day 7
Bovec to Bled
What people love about 7-day Slovenia tours
- Tour de Julian Alps | Hut-to-hut Trekking
The tour is absolutely spectacular from start to finish. The organisation and communication with the hosts was smooth, the welcome meeting and detailed briefing was in person, which came to me as a big, but very positive surprise.. All instructions were very clear and we got to use the navigation app as well as the actual physical map. As first timers taking part in a self guided tour, to set our minds at ease we connected with the host via WhatsApp and we remained in contact with him for all our questions and concerns. Luckily, we did not have many. The hiking area is breathtaking, the route is not too easy, but a nice challenge for someone who likes to hike and is reasonably fit. The views and the surroundings of every step are unforgettable and I would gladly recommend it to everyone!
