What people love about Croatia Tours in August
- 5-day Dubrovnik to Split one-way cruise - Classic Plus above-deck, 18-35s
The staff was really nice, they would give us suggestions for places, the food was very delicious. The boat room is pretty small and the bathroom also, but you’re not gonna spend a lot of time there anyway. They stop everyday in nice swim spots and the boat we have been on had also stand-up paddle board which I think it’s a very cool idea.
- Croatia Deluxe Cruise - from Split
I would definitely recommend this wonderful trip. Because of Covid I wanted to be in a much smaller company of people and this was A star! My cabin was perfect and cleaned everyday. The crew couldn’t do enough for me always smiling and friendly. The food was outstanding and well presented and very professional. The tables was always well laid out for breakfast dinner and lunch. Plenty of drinks available. The trips were so awe inspiring with beautiful islands and each stop we had a talks explaining the history which was done perfectly and any questions was answered well. The stop off swims was lovely as well. Also I must mention Aida our cruise manager, she was tops!, she was funny she was very very knowledgable and she bent over backwards to help everyone with whatever problems. She communicates well with whatever language is needed on board as there were travellers from all over. I would definitely love to do another trip like this again. Oh by the way if this helps I am a lady of 72 years single so don’t let that put you off going to this memorable trip..
- Cycling Croatia's Dalmatian Coast
This was my first Exodus tour and my first cycling tour. Prior to starting, I was quite anxious that I wouldn't be able to handle it. After the first day and some challenging climbs- I was encouraged & proud that I made it through. I went with my son and we had a fantastic time. Dino, our guide, was excellent- very encouraging and supportive. We were very unlucky with the weather (rained almost daily) but we had a great group and it was really enjoyable and memorable. I would however advise anyone considering this that you do need a moderate level of fitness and I wished I'd had more time to train outdoors- I'm sure it would have made the climbs a little easier! Also- there are multiple piers in Split, so group members should be given more specific directions in meeting the group- it's not "a little place". We almost missed out ferry because we were not on the right pier!

The Hotel Dubrovnik in Zagreb and Hotel Palace in Split typically reach capacity during this period. The warm August weather makes Croatia's beaches particularly inviting. Families often choose Sunj Beach on Lopud Island for its gentle slope and calm waters. One TourRadar traveler noted: "The swimming stops in pristine bays were incredible especially the Blue Lagoon and Pakleni Islands near Hvar." Bacvice Beach in Split offers a local feel with traditional picigin ball games in the shallows.
What is the nightlife like in Croatia during August?
The nightlife scene peaks in August across Croatian coastal towns. Hvar Town leads with its mix of seaside bars and dance venues while Split's Bačvice district draws both locals and visitors to its waterfront establishments. Zagreb's Tkalčićeva Street presents a different energy with its string of casual outdoor cafes and wine bars.
What cultural festivals happen in Croatia during August?
August fills Croatian cities with cultural celebrations. The Dubrovnik Summer Festival brings classical concerts to historic venues while Split's summer program highlights local performing arts. In Korčula traditional sword dancers perform their centuries-old routines. The Nights of Diocletian transforms Split's streets into scenes from Roman times. As a TourRadar reviewer noted: "The evening cultural performances in Dubrovnik's Old Town during August were magical especially against the historic backdrop."
What are the best day trips to take in Croatia during August?
Day trips offer ways to explore beyond the main cities. From Split travelers can reach the waterfalls of Krka National Park. Hvar serves as a starting point for Blue Cave excursions while Dubrovnik connects to the Elaphiti Islands. A TourRadar traveler recommended: "The day trip to Mljet National Park from Korčula was a highlight - the lakes were perfect for swimming away from the August heat." The Pakleni Islands near Hvar provide options for quiet beach days.
How expensive is Croatia in August compared to other months?
August brings the highest prices of the year to Croatia. Hotels restaurants and tours often charge premium rates with places like the Labranda Senses in Hvar increasing prices by 30-50% above shoulder season rates.
