What people love about Croatia Tours in August
- Cycling Croatia's Dalmatian Coast
We had a very good time in spite of my wife coming down with a bad virus several days before the start of the trip. Because strong exertion caused sever coughing, she had to ride the van up some of the longer hills. There was one client who used an electric bike and it would have been a good solution for her condition. Unfortunately I didn't think of it before the start of the trip. Alan Skulic, the group leader was knowledgeable, organized, very personable, and made the whole experience memorable. Tommy the driver was also great. The scenery was beautiful and the food excellent. I found the lodging to be more than adequate and in all cases staffed by friendly helpful personnel. Overall we had a wonderful time.
- Croatia Sailing Adventure
This trip was amazing from start to finish. A mixture of relaxation, culture and party. Croatia is so beautiful and has so much to offer. I cant tell you how happy I am to be back traveling I have dreamt about this for the last 18 months... THANK YOU TRU TRAVELS. I will definitely be booking my next trip with you :)
- Sailing Croatia - Split to Dubrovnik
By far the best way to explore the Dalmatian islands! Sailing was great, the CEO/Skipper was a great and experienced guy from Split, so very knowledgeable about this part of the Adriatic sea. Most of the marinas we stopped at had toilets and showers facilities, which were a very good and valuable alternative to the very tiny toilet/shower of the boat. All the places we stopped for dinner have served an amazing food. Breakfast and lunch were taken on board (self catering). The villages and cities we have visited were absolutely stunning: Croatia is a beautiful country, I can only recommend this trip to all sea/nature/culture/food lovers.
What our customers ask about Croatia Tours in August 2025
How crowded are Croatian destinations in August?
August brings peak tourist numbers to Croatia's most popular spots. The main streets of Dubrovnik and Split often fill with visitors by mid-morning while hotels report full bookings. The Hotel Dubrovnik in Zagreb and Hotel Palace in Split typically reach capacity during this period. Smaller islands like Lopud or Vis provide quieter alternatives for travelers looking to avoid the busiest areas. One TourRadar traveler mentioned: "Dubrovnik's Old Town gets very busy in August so it's best to explore early morning or evening to avoid crowds."
What are the must-visit beaches in Croatia during August?
The warm August weather makes Croatia's beaches particularly inviting. The distinctive Golden Horn beach on Brac Island draws swimmers with its clear waters while Hvar's shoreline buzzes with upscale beach clubs. Families often choose Sunj Beach on Lopud Island for its gentle slope and calm waters. One TourRadar traveler noted: "The swimming stops in pristine bays were incredible especially the Blue Lagoon and Pakleni Islands near Hvar." Bacvice Beach in Split offers a local feel with traditional picigin ball games in the shallows.
What is the nightlife like in Croatia during August?
The nightlife scene peaks in August across Croatian coastal towns. Hvar Town leads with its mix of seaside bars and dance venues while Split's Bačvice district draws both locals and visitors to its waterfront establishments. A TourRadar traveler shared: "Carpe Diem Club in Hvar was amazing located on its own island with beach areas for cooling off." Zagreb's Tkalčićeva Street presents a different energy with its string of casual outdoor cafes and wine bars.
What cultural festivals happen in Croatia during August?
August fills Croatian cities with cultural celebrations. The Dubrovnik Summer Festival brings classical concerts to historic venues while Split's summer program highlights local performing arts. In Korčula traditional sword dancers perform their centuries-old routines. The Nights of Diocletian transforms Split's streets into scenes from Roman times. As a TourRadar reviewer noted: "The evening cultural performances in Dubrovnik's Old Town during August were magical especially against the historic backdrop."
What are the best day trips to take in Croatia during August?
Day trips offer ways to explore beyond the main cities. From Split travelers can reach the waterfalls of Krka National Park. Hvar serves as a starting point for Blue Cave excursions while Dubrovnik connects to the Elaphiti Islands. A TourRadar traveler recommended: "The day trip to Mljet National Park from Korčula was a highlight - the lakes were perfect for swimming away from the August heat." The Pakleni Islands near Hvar provide options for quiet beach days.
How expensive is Croatia in August compared to other months?
August brings the highest prices of the year to Croatia. Hotels restaurants and tours often charge premium rates with places like the Labranda Senses in Hvar increasing prices by 30-50% above shoulder season rates. A TourRadar traveler noted: "Expect to pay around 150-200 USD per day for mid-range accommodations and meals in August compared to 100-150 USD in shoulder season." Budget-conscious travelers might consider visiting in early July or September for better deals.
