What people love about Private Tours in Madagascar
- Madagascar Nosy Be Experience for 6 Days/5 Nights
Very reliable, trustworthy and organized tour agent
- Ranomafana National Park & Antisirabe Safari 5Days/4Nights
Overall excellent, really pleased to have got to experience a slice of Madagascar. Extremely well looked after from start to finish, clear schedule and guides met me at every step of the way. Guides were excellent and a pleasure to be with, always felt safe. Accommodation was varied in terms of location but always very impressive with excellent food. You will need to survive on bottled water in Madagascar, but this wasn't a problem. Itinerary delivered incredible sights, loveable lemurs and good variety of location. Unfortunately a problem for me was the tour itinerary I booked for included a trip to tsingy de bemaraha which was what I was most looking forward to. This location was far away from the tour so was not practical. As a result this changed to a day of travel to St Marie island, which to my horror started at 3am (no other times or air transfer). With very rough roads and choppy seas I needed to recuperate the previous day which was free time rather than enjoying the many activities that could have been available. Retrospectively would much rather have travelled back to the capitol the way I came. Conclusion: Check the itinerary is as described as well as how many guests are on the tour before booking. But if you want to visit Madagascar, I'd recommend going as an organised tour and this one is great.

We had a wonderful tour. It is definitely worth seeing, and much nicer and easier to do with a company
What our customers ask about Private Tours & Trips in Madagascar
When is the best time to take a Private tour in Madagascar?
Madagascar's private tours are most enjoyable from April to October in the dry season. The weather is pleasant with temperatures between 20-25°C making it ideal for exploring key destinations. Andasibe National Park offers excellent lemur spotting while Isalo National Park provides good hiking conditions. The coastal region of Nosy Be is perfect for whale watching from July to September. Visitors staying at the Radisson Blu & Spa in Antananarivo benefit from clear weather that's ideal for outdoor activities.
What's the typical accommodation standard on Private tours in Madagascar?
Private tours combine upscale hotels with distinctive eco-lodges across Madagascar. In the capital Antananarivo guests often stay at the Louvre Hotel & Spa or Radisson Blu & Spa. The Vakona Forest Lodge near Andasibe puts visitors close to wildlife viewing opportunities. Guest feedback consistently mentions the quality of amenities with one TourRadar traveler noting "The hotels were equipped with very advanced amenities. We had a comfortable rest and great breakfast at every location."
What unique experiences can I expect on a Private tour in Madagascar?
Private Madagascar tours let visitors get close to lemurs in Andasibe National Park explore the limestone maze of UNESCO-listed Tsingy de Bemaraha and watch sunsets at the Avenue of Baobabs. Accommodations include stays at Nature Lodge in Joffre Ville and Ravintsara Hotel in Nosy Be. As one TourRadar traveler described: "This was a great experience with close interaction with wild Lemurs at Lemur Island and jaw-dropping rock formations at Tsingy that you can hike through."
How much time should I allow for travel between destinations in Madagascar?
Madagascar's road conditions mean longer travel times between sites. The drive from Antananarivo to Andasibe takes 4 hours while Ranomafana to Isalo National Park requires 7-8 hours. One TourRadar traveler noted: "The roads are full of potholes so it takes quite a long time to get from one destination to the next." Private tours use comfortable vehicles and experienced drivers. Some longer routes like Antananarivo to Morondava are covered by hour-long domestic flights.
How far in advance should I book a Private Madagascar tour?
Booking 6-8 months ahead is recommended for Madagascar private tours particularly for peak season travel (July-September). This ensures spots at preferred places like the Grand Hotel Urban in Antananarivo or Andasibe Hotel. Booking data shows successful tours average 863 days from first inquiry to confirmation. Early planning is essential for seasonal activities like whale watching in Sainte Marie (July-September) or visiting Tsingy de Bemaraha (May-November).
How much does a Private tour in Madagascar typically cost?
Daily rates for private Madagascar tours range from 250-500 USD varying by accommodation and activities. A 10-day luxury tour including Nosy Be archipelago with stays at premium spots like Constance Lodge runs about 3605 USD. A 14-day wildlife-focused tour averages 3615 USD. These prices typically cover private transport professional guides and most meals.
