What people love about Abu Simbel Tours
- 3 Days Guided tours to Aswan, Abu Simbel and Luxor
It was an amazing private tour. Everything was arranged from pickup to dropoff. Our guide was very knowleageble having a degree in Egyptologist and tourism. We also felt safe with good drivers throughout the tour. I can recommend.
- Egypt Explorer (Cairo, Luxor, Aswan & Abu Simbel)
Having planned an eight day trip to Egypt we searched for a tour which was competively priced and covered the important cities and sites. The Truly Egypt tour fit perfectly even though there were few reviews. We were provided with an amazing room at Cairo. Our guide at Cairo was May and full of energy. We saw the giza sites and the museum before boarding the overnight train to Luxor. It took around 13hrs to reach Luxor and the 1st class was comfortable enough if you're used to sitting on reclining chairs. Mac picked us up from the station and took us to a beautiful riverside resort. We were able to get an early check-in to freshen up. After that Mac started the tour with Karnak followed by Luxor temple. He told us many stories about the sites. Lunch was arranged but if you have any preference then tell them beforehand. Mac helped us book the hot air balloon ride which was one of the most memorable experiences of my life. Mac planned our Luxor trip perfectly so that we could beat some of the crowds. A short train ride starting in the evening and we reached Aswan at night. The hotel has gorgeous view of the Nile and the room was comfortable. He helped get a good price deal for the Nubian village tour. The boat ride was fun. Next day early morning we started for Abu Simbel which is a must see for anyone travelling to Egypt. Its amazing how the entire structure was relocated. Mac arranged very comfortable vans for all the tours. He was very helpful and gave honest advice.
- Valley of the Kings Tour: 3-Days Guided tours to Aswan, Abu Simbel and Luxor (Optional Sunrise Hot air Balloon)
What an awesome guide Mr Khaled is! I couldn’t stop rating 5 star fully because of him, Khaled in Luxor. I spent first two days in Aswan and Abu Simbel. I could enjoy each historical place I visited. However I couldn’t enjoy entire tour as I was not pre-informed detail of the schedule enough. Tour manager answered speedy when I asked, but was not unfortunately proactive. I had to wait at the station unattended with no information or even ticket. Finally I was so tired while a staff finally picked up and took me on the train accordingly. On the other hand, in Luxor everything was just more than excellent. I felt much relax and full of enjoy after Khaled picked me up at the station. I could enjoy Luxor by not only visiting historical sites but also learning a lot from Khaled. He also adequately offered some options upon my request. Overall for the tour I put 5 assuming 3.0 for first 2 days and 7.0 for the experience in Luxor. I would like to come back to Luxor with my family in the near future!
What our customers ask about Abu Simbel Tours & Trips
What is the best time of day to visit Abu Simbel temples?
The optimal visiting window is between 4:00-6:00 AM when the desert air is cool and visitor numbers are low. Tours typically leave Aswan at 4:00 AM making the 3-hour desert journey to reach the temples at sunrise. Visitors usually spend about 2 hours exploring both the Great Temple of Ramses II and Temple of Hathor. The morning light creates ideal conditions for photography and comfortable sightseeing before the desert heat intensifies. The Seti Abu Simbel Lake Resort offers convenient accommodation for early access.
How long does it take to get from Aswan to Abu Simbel?
The desert journey spans 280 kilometers taking 3-3.5 hours each way by air-conditioned vehicle. Tours begin in the pre-dawn hours around 4:00 AM to maximize morning viewing time at the temples. Professional drivers navigate the well-maintained desert highway in modern buses or minivans. The actual temple visit takes about 2 hours allowing visitors to return to Aswan by early afternoon.
What accommodation options are available near Abu Simbel?
While most visitors base themselves in Aswan at properties like the Movenpick Resort or Sofitel Legend Old Cataract Hotel the Seti Abu Simbel Lake Resort provides rooms with Lake Nasser views for those wanting to stay closer to the temples. The manageable 3-hour drive from Aswan allows visitors to easily experience the temples as a day trip while enjoying Aswan's broader range of dining and accommodation choices.
Is Abu Simbel included in most Nile cruise packages?
Abu Simbel appears as an optional add-on for most Nile cruises though select luxury itineraries like the Nile Odyssey include it as standard. The excursion coordinates with cruise schedules departing from ships docked in Aswan early morning and returning in time for lunch onboard. This integration allows for a smooth experience while maintaining the regular cruise programming.
What's unique about the Abu Simbel temples' location?
The temples occupy a remarkable position 280 kilometers south of Aswan near Sudan carved into the mountainside. Their current location reflects an extraordinary 1960s engineering feat. The entire complex was cut into massive blocks and reassembled 65 meters higher to prevent flooding from Lake Nasser. This preservation effort saved one of Egypt's most significant archaeological treasures while maintaining its original grandeur and architectural integrity.
What's the best way to avoid crowds at Abu Simbel?
Early morning visits starting with 4:00 AM departures from Aswan help bypass the main tourist rush which peaks between 9:00-11:00 AM when cruise ships arrive. The shoulder seasons of October-November and February-March see fewer visitors. During these months the temples' detailed carvings and colossal statues can be appreciated in relative tranquility especially during early morning hours.
