What people love about Cambodia Tours from Ho Chi Minh City
- Cambodia Experience
I enjoyed this trip and toured with a group of good people and made good friends. My included highlights on this tour would be: 1) Seeing Angkor Wat at sunrise abd the tour around the other temples 2) Phnom Penh cyclo tour - The Grand Palace at night 3) Mekong river cruise - getting close to the honey bees, the live snake and sampling produce 4) The swimming pool at the Nagara Angkor Boutique hotel with Happy Hour on cocktails 5) The homestay meal, even though we didn't actually stay there. I also liked the Killing Fields trip but due to it's nature you can't really call it a highlight. You also get a substantial amount of free time to explore by yourself. Things that weren't so good on the trip: 1) The heat, you couldn't do much in the afternoons in Cambodia as it is so hot and sunny. Most of us spent time out of the sun and in our air-conditioned rooms waiting until late afternoon to venture back outside (to the pool in Siem Reap) 2) You only get to spend 5 nights in Cambodia out of the 8 on the trip. 3) There a three very long drives (6 hours plus) which eats into each of those particular days, not leaving much time to do anything else 4) Accommodation in Bangkok is a nice hotel and useful if you want to see Chinatown or be near the train station. Otherwise it is far away from the backpacker areas which is more tourist friendly e.g. has laundry service, travel agencies etc. It depends on what you want I suppose as it is a lot quieter. 5) A lot of the early hotels only provide one keycard for the room. You can work around it but causes a problem if one room mate wants to stay out late and the other wants to go to bed. Overall, I had a good time.
- Cambodian Traveller
I have traveled alone as well as with intrepid and can say that it is by far one of the best ways to travel. Everything is arranged for you(especially help with border crossings), you get to meet new people/cultures from not only the countries you are visiting but those you are traveling with, and its value for money. Tour guide was great, had a good sense of humor, was interested and wanted to get to know group members, enthusiastic, good local knowledge etc and made excellent suggestions for our free time and places to eat which was something I was wary about. There were moments where we literally got stuck in torrential rain in the countryside with no shelter but when your with great people and in a safe place what can you do but laugh and enjoy the experience! Highlights - Angkor Wat, Siem Reap, Battumbang. Lows - Wasn't a big fan of Ho Chi Minh, but wasn't there long enough to worry about it.
- Cycle Vietnam and Cambodia
This was a fantastic tour! My first ever activity holiday and it was the experience of a lifetime. I couldn’t recommend it more highly - and I’m saying that as an exceptionally amateur cyclist. The tour is an exceptional opportunity to see 2 countries at a different pace - meeting local people off the beaten track, understand their complex histories and enjoy the stunning countryside. All of the details were well-organised, but a huge ‘hats off’ and thank you to our tour guide Pham van Binh who went above and beyond in making sure this was a holiday to remember. Binh's length and depth of experience really shone through and he brought a rich colour to the history of the countries that we visited. Most importantly, on a cycling tour, he was concerned about our safety and was extraordinarily attentive to ensure that we all enjoyed ourselves and felt confident on our bikes with the support team. He kept a pace that fairly covered the range of group competencies and quickly settled the group into an cohesive peleton! Pham van Binh has good humour, an abundance of patience and was an excellent facilitator of our group dynamics. I've never been on a group tour before, and this trip, and in particular Binh will be an exceptionally hard act to follow.
