Adriatic Family Trips/Tours Reviews
- Country Roads of Croatia (Classic)
Tour took us to everywhere we would want see, the only disappointment was the lack of traditional meals in the included meals
- Dalmatian Highlights Split and Dubrovnik Region Cruise (Deluxe Boat Category)
We had a fantastic trip! The boat and cabin were very uncomfortable, the food was great, crew very friendly, met super people and the stops in towns -- particularly Kacula, Trigor and Havar -- just beautiful and a lot of fun.
- Balkan Extended - Ljubljana to Dubrovnik
I chose this tour & dates to parallel World Cup matches, esp. following Croatia & Serbia when in their countries. Tour Guide Marko was always professional & kind, adjusting to my pace. He lent me his arm on stairs without railings & slippery wet cobblestones. Marko was an excellent driver of our luxury Skoda, great listener & a futbol fan, and always punctual. I wouldn't change a thing! Thank you!
What our customers ask about Adriatic Family Tours & Vacation Packages
When is the best time to visit the Adriatic with children?
Late spring (May-June) or early fall (September) provides the most comfortable conditions for families visiting the Adriatic. During these months Split and Dubrovnik see temperatures around 75°F (24°C) which works well for exploring outdoors with children. The Hvar area gets more than 2,800 hours of sun each year making beach time enjoyable for families. The summer peak (July-August) tends to get very crowded as noted by one TourRadar traveler who said "the crowds can be overwhelming especially with children."
What are the best family-friendly activities and attractions in the Adriatic region?
Families can explore the clear waters of Plitvice Lakes National Park or take boat trips between islands like Hvar Brac and Korcula. The shallow waters at Zlatni Rat beach in Bol work well for children who want to swim or try water sports. One TourRadar visitor noted "Everything happened seamlessly which was especially important for someone travelling with family confidence-wise." Educational stops include the Sculpting Academy in Pučišća where stone masonry traditions continue and historic sites like Split's Diocletian's Palace.
What are the best accommodation options for families in the Adriatic?
Family lodging ranges from beachside resorts to well-appointed hotels across the region. Split's Hotel Corner offers large family rooms while the Grand Beach Resort Amfora in Hvar features multiple pools and easy beach access. The Valamar Lacroma Hotel in Dubrovnik provides family suites and kid-focused amenities. A TourRadar guest shared that "The Dubrovnik hotel was fabulous with extra friendly and helpful staff good facilities" confirming its appeal for families.
What type of transportation is recommended for families traveling in the Adriatic?
Families typically do best with a mix of private transfers and ferry rides when exploring the Adriatic islands. Many tour packages include air-conditioned vehicles for land travel and scheduled ferry trips between islands such as Brač Hvar and Korčula. A TourRadar review praised "Dom our driver was excellent...his kind and humorous nature was a highlight of the trip for my husband and I." Most tours offer convenient airport-to-hotel transfers to simplify family travel logistics.
How accessible are the beaches and swimming areas for children in the Adriatic?
Many Adriatic beaches offer gradual entry points and calm waters that work well for children. Family favorites include Split's Bačvice Beach and the sheltered bays around Hvar Island. One TourRadar guest noted: "Stopping for swims everyday was wonderful and the crew knew the area well and chose great swimming spots." Beaches often provide lifeguards changing rooms and rental equipment. The Hotel Dubrovnik Palace gives guests access to a private beach that suits families with young children.
What dining options are available for families with picky eaters?
Restaurants across the Adriatic understand the needs of family dining. Local spots serve both Croatian dishes and familiar options that appeal to children. The Hotel Split Inn makes special kids' menus while Dubrovnik's waterfront restaurants offer simple pasta and fresh seafood choices. As one TourRadar visitor said: "The food is amazing and there were plenty of options for everyone." Hotels like Hvar's Amfora serve buffet meals that work well for families and most restaurants will adjust portions or modify dishes for young diners.
