7 Days in Montenegro, incl. Kotor and Budva
A six-day tour through Montenegro showcases medieval Kotor, mountain-wrapped Žabljak, and coastal Budva. Guided hikes lead to Kotor Fortress and Crno Jezero, while visits to Nevidio Canyon and Ostrog Monastery round out the journey. Nights are spent in guesthouses and hostels.

- Days 1-2
Kotor
Plan to arrive early on Day 1. The drive from Podgorica Airport to the medieval city of Kotor takes about 2 hours. Visit the UNESCO-listed old town in late afternoon when cruise ship crowds thin out. Take a walk along the city walls at night when they're beautifully lit up. Start Day 2 with the Kotor Fortress hike before 9 AM to avoid crowds and heat. The climb is 1,350 steps and takes about 45 minutes. Bring water and a hat since there's minimal shade, and wear good shoes - the limestone steps can be slippery. In the evening, take a 3-hour boat tour around Kotor Bay to see Our Lady of the Rocks church.

 - Day 3
Žabljak and Durmitor National Park
 - Day 4
Ostrog Monastery and Transfer to Budva
Drive 2 hours to Ostrog Monastery in the morning. Visit before noon to skip the afternoon heat. The monastery sits in a cliff face and requires some climbing. Remember the dress code: covered shoulders and knees. Women need headscarves, which you can borrow there. After your visit, it's 2.5 hours to Budva.

 - Days 5-6
Budva
Budva combines beach life with history. Explore the old town early, before the narrow streets get crowded - it takes about 2 hours. For swimming, try Mogren Beach, a 15-minute walk from old town. It's quieter than the main beach. You can also take a 15-minute bus ride to see Sveti Stefan, the famous island-hotel.

 - Day 7
Final Morning in Budva

6 Days in Montenegro, incl. Kotor and Podgorica
Montenegro unfolds over six days through medieval Kotor, mountain town Žabljak, outdoor paradise Kolašin, and historic Podgorica. Daily activities range from boat tours to monastery visits and 4x4 adventures, with 5 breakfasts and select meals provided.

- Day 1
Kotor
 - Day 2
Kotor & Bay of Kotor
Take a morning boat tour from Kotor's port to see the Bay of Kotor. The ride to Perast takes about 45 minutes and shows off the bay's famous church islands. Sit on the left side of the boat for the best views of Our Lady of the Rocks church. In the afternoon try sea kayaking for around $20 to get a different view of the bay's cliffs.

 - Day 3
Budva to Žabljak
 - Day 4
Žabljak to Kolašin
Visit Biogradska Gora National Park, one of Europe's oldest forests. The morning lake walk takes about 2 hours. Pack layers since mountain weather changes quickly. In summer you can rent kayaks to explore the lake for about $15 per hour. The drive to Kolašin offers mountain views. Ask for a room with a mountain view at your hotel.

 - Day 5
Kolašin to Podgorica
 - Day 6
Podgorica

7 Days in the Balkans, incl. Tirana and Dubrovnik
Montenegro's highlights shine over three days, from Skadar Lake's wildlife to Kotor's medieval streets. The route leads through Cetinje's King Nicola's Museum, Budva's old town, and Perast's Our Lady of the Rocks, accompanied by local cuisine and expert guides.

- Days 1-2
Tirana, Albania
Begin in Albania's capital. Spend your first afternoon in the Blloku district, which was once off-limits to everyone except communist party elite but now stands as Tirana's most popular neighborhood. On Day 2, visit Bunk'Art, a Cold War bunker converted into a museum. Get there before 10 AM to beat the crowds. You'll need 2-3 hours to explore all five underground levels. The stairs are plentiful, so wear good walking shoes.

 - Day 3
Virpazar & Skadar Lake, Montenegro
Drive 3.5 hours north to Virpazar, your entry point to Skadar Lake National Park. Take a boat trip on the Balkans' largest lake in the morning. The best wildlife viewing happens between 8-10 AM when the water is still. Bring water and sunscreen since shade is limited. From here, it's a 1-hour drive to coastal Budva.

 - Day 4
Cetinje & Kotor
Get to Cetinje, Montenegro's historic royal capital, early to see King Nikola's Museum before tour buses arrive. Drive an hour to medieval Kotor, where pink stone streets reflect its Venetian heritage. The climb to the fortress involves 1,350 steps. Plan this for late afternoon when it's cooler and cruise ship passengers have left.

 - Day 5
Perast to Dubrovnik
Start at Our Lady of the Rocks, a man-made island near Perast. Regular boats run from the waterfront. After crossing into Croatia (2 hours with border control), you'll reach Dubrovnik by early afternoon. For the best experience on the city walls, go just before closing at 7:30 PM in summer. You'll find smaller crowds and better photo opportunities.

 - Day 6
Dubrovnik & Konavle Region
 - Day 7
Dubrovnik Departure
If time allows before your flight, walk Dubrovnik's eastern walls in the morning for clear views of Lokrum Island. Plan 30-45 minutes to reach the airport. Book a midday flight to avoid traffic.
