14 Days in South America, incl. Santiago and Rio de Janeiro
A magnificent two-week tour across Argentina and Brazil: 2 nights in Santiago exploring Santa Lucia Hill, 2 nights watching penguins at Martillo Island in Ushuaia, 3 nights enjoying tango at El Viejo Almacen in Buenos Aires, 2 nights at Iguazu Falls, and 4 nights visiting Christ the Redeemer in Rio.
- Days 1-2
Santiago, Chile
Begin in Chile's capital. Pack layers since mornings can be chilly any time of year. Take a half-day city tour through historic neighborhoods on your second day. Get to Santa Lucia Hill when it opens at 9 AM to avoid crowds and afternoon heat. Head to Mercado Central for lunch around 1 PM when locals pack the seafood stalls.
- Days 3-4
Ushuaia, Argentina
Take a 4-hour flight to the world's southernmost city. Pack waterproof gear regardless of season. The Beagle Channel catamaran trip to see penguins is a must-do. A recent visitor shared: "The penguin colony on Martillo Island was incredible - but wear gloves and a windbreaker. The Antarctic winds are no joke even in December."

14 Days in South America, incl. Buenos Aires and Rio de Janeiro
This remarkable 14-day tour visits 6 major cities across Argentina and Brazil, including 2 nights at an Uruguayan estancia. Stand before Iguazu Falls' 270 cascades, wander colonial treasures in Colonia del Sacramento, and visit Rio's famous landmarks.
- Days 1-2
Buenos Aires
Land in Argentina's capital by 1 PM to join a walking tour through Microcentro, taking in Avenida de Mayo and Casa Rosada. Use your free day to explore Palermo's steakhouses. Book the Teatro Colon tour early since spots fill up fast. Visit the stunning Ateneo Bookshop right at 9 AM opening to beat the crowds.
- Days 3-4
Uruguay
Cross the Rio de la Plata by ferry (1.5 hours) to reach Colonia del Sacramento. Walk the UNESCO Old Quarter's cobblestone streets and climb the 1857 lighthouse for city views. Take a bus to Montevideo (2.5 hours) and spend time at the busy Mercado del Puerto or stroll the Rambla, a seafront path stretching nearly 14 miles.

13 Day South America Itinerary, incl. Santiago and Rio de Janeiro
A captivating 13-day journey from Santiago to Rio via Buenos Aires. Marvel at Plaza de Armas, cruise through Viña del Mar, wander La Boca's colorful houses, witness Iguazu Falls' three circuits, and ascend Corcovado Mountain.
- Days 1-3
Santiago
Start in Chile's capital. Visit Plaza de Armas around 9 AM when smog levels are lowest to watch the city come alive. Use the metro to get around and buy a BIP card at any station. A traveler shares: "The funiculars only take cash, and some can be temporarily closed - always have a backup walking route planned."
- Days 4-6
Buenos Aires
Fly 2 hours to Argentina's capital. Stay in Palermo for its convenient location and easy Subte metro access. Visit San Telmo market on Sunday when it's most vibrant. Visit La Boca before 5 PM when shops close. A traveler notes: "The late-night tango show at Café de Los Angelitos was worth staying up for, but book a later checkout the next day - shows don't end until after midnight."
- Days 7-9
Iguazu Falls
Take three full days to see both Argentine and Brazilian sides. Start early on the Argentine Lower Circuit before crowds arrive. Bring a waterproof phone case for Devil's Throat. Use the free shuttle between park gates. A recent visitor advises: "The Brazilian side offers the panoramic views, but the Argentine side gets you closer to the falls. Do Brazil in the afternoon when the sun is positioned better for photos."
- Days 10-13
Rio de Janeiro
Take the first 8 AM train to Christ the Redeemer to avoid crowds and afternoon clouds. Visit Copacabana Beach between 8-11 AM when locals exercise and before the strong sun. A traveler suggests: "The bus from Copacabana to Corcovado train station runs every 15 minutes but can take twice as long during rush hour - plan accordingly."

- Brazil, Argentina & Chile Unveiled
Truly great tour! Excellent hotels, tours top notch. Fernando was an excellent tour guide and director. Took great care of us, and made each day positively lovely. Wilson In Iguaçu made every day memorable. Tango show sublime. And Santiago... a hidden gem. What an excellent tour. Cosmos tours are real value for the money.
- 12 Day Argentina & Brazil
If you travel around Iguazú and don't take a great adventure your trip is incomplete and if you have enough time, you should go to the dinner show at Rafain.
- Brazil & Argentina Escape with Santiago
This particular trip was mind-blowing for me. I've never taking the tour-approach to traveling and I can't tell you how happy I am that I tried it. The places we saw were astonishingly filled with beauty and culture and the guides, hotels, and transportation were shockingly good for the price of the trip. I'll do it again.
