Reviews of Tanzania Family Tours
- 10-Day Tanzania Luxury Family Safari - Great MigrationOur safari with Lights on Africa Safaris was was a unique experience! After enjoying the breathtaking natural beauty of Tarangire and Lake Manyara from Arusha, we arrive at the famous Serengeti, where we are mesmerized by the sight of wildebeest migration. Our guide, Yohana, was very experienced and knowledgeable, who made every moment special. The roaring of lions, huge herds of elephants, and incredible journeys of migratory animals to see up close are simply phenomenal! Luxurious camp stay and delicious food made our experience more enjoyable. Lights on Africa Safaris is undoubtedly the best choice for safari!
- 9 - Days Tanzania Family SafariThis was a really great tour!!!! Program was excellent and well balanced, service and support while booking perfect, lodges according to our expectations, people there great. Although there were difficult weather conditions in the Serengeti with lot of rain we had so many exciting animal sightings. Our guide Godlove was exceeding all expectations, we appreciated and loved his knowledge of the country and the animals, his perfect service and safe driving, his humour and his big efforts to make our tour the best tour ever. It was "super, super", asante sana!
What our customers ask about Tanzania Family Tours
- What type of accommodation is available for families in Tanzania?- Tanzania's family accommodations range from welcoming lodges to high-end tented camps that blend comfort with adventure. The Africa Safari Karatu provides sweeping views of Ngorongoro Highlands while Farm of Dreams Lodge in Karatu features 48 spacious rooms suited for families. Africa Safari Serengeti Ikoma stands out for its prime location near Grumeti River where wildlife viewing is excellent right from the property. A TourRadar traveler shared: "The lodges we stayed in were amazing; clean comfortable with the most friendly staff. I particularly loved Serengeti Wildebeest Camp and Ngorongoro Wild Camp."
- What is the minimum age requirement for children on Tanzania family safaris?- Children as young as 2-4 years old can join most Tanzania family safaris though requirements differ between operators. Great Lake Expedition sets their minimum at 4 years while Africa Natural Tours accepts children from age 2. Safety considerations may limit participation in certain activities. Many properties like Bouganvillea Safari Lodge provide family rooms and kid-friendly amenities for a comfortable stay.
- What is the best time of year for a family safari in Tanzania?- The dry periods from June to October and January to February provide the most reliable conditions for family safaris in Tanzania. The Serengeti draws families during July-October when the Great Migration passes through while Ngorongoro Crater offers consistent wildlife sightings year-round. Lake Manyara is best explored in dry months when animals gather at water sources. A TourRadar traveler noted "We visited in July and the weather was perfect for the kids - not too hot and we saw incredible amounts of wildlife."
- How long should a family safari in Tanzania be?- A 5-9 day safari hits the sweet spot for families exploring Tanzania's highlights. Common family trips include the 5-day Explore Serengeti tour and 8-day Tanzania's Untamed Treasures both pacing activities well for younger travelers. Longer stays allow downtime at places like Africa Safari Lake Manyara where children can enjoy the pool facilities. As a TourRadar traveler shared "The 6-day pace was perfect for our family - enough time to see amazing wildlife without exhausting the kids."
- What are the best family-friendly activities and attractions in Tanzania's national parks?- The national parks of Tanzania provide engaging experiences for all ages. Serengeti National Park offers easy wildlife viewing and learning opportunities while Ngorongoro Crater creates a natural arena for safely spotting the Big Five. Tarangire National Park delights families with its elephant herds and towering baobab trees. A TourRadar traveler noted: "We had my parents in their 70s teenagers and we the parents... they guided us through the parks taking us to less crowded spots away from the crowds where we could enjoy viewing wildlife in peace."
