South East Asia Safari Tour Reviews
- Borneo – East Sabah Adventure
The tour ticked all our boxes. A homestay, a stay by the river, we saw the orangutans in the wild, we saw them at the reserve, some glamping, boat tours, speed boats, flight. Gerry our guide knew his stuff about Borneo and about nature and wildlife and was passionate about it.
- 3D2N Sailing Komodo Flores, Indonesia
A wonderful trip! Salmon was awesome, as were the chefs and all the wonderful people we met on the tour. A great bunch of people. Salmon was so great at helping us during a crisis that had nothing to do with him, without him and the rest of the other new friends we made, it would not have been the spectacular trip that it was. Thanks so much.
What our customers ask about South East Asia Safari Tours
What are the best times of year to spot wildlife in South East Asia's national parks?
The peak wildlife viewing seasons in South East Asia differ across regions. Borneo's Kinabatangan River area sees abundant wildlife from March to October with good chances to see orangutans proboscis monkeys and pygmy elephants. The Sepilok Orangutan Centre welcomes visitors throughout the year with consistent sightings while Thailand's Khao Sok National Park is most active from December to April. As one TourRadar traveler notes "The morning and evening Kinabatangan River safaris were amazing for wildlife spotting especially the baby elephants crossing the river with their herd."
What types of accommodation can I expect on a South East Asia safari tour?
South East Asia's wildlife destinations offer diverse lodging options that blend comfort with nature. Visitors can choose between jungle lodges floating houses and eco-resorts. The Bilit Adventure Lodge on Kinabatangan River provides riverside rooms with private bathrooms while Sepilok Jungle Resort offers chalets near the orangutan sanctuary. Khao Sok National Park features distinctive floating bungalows on Cheow Lan Lake. According to a TourRadar traveler "The jungle lodge accommodation was basic but clean and waking up to gibbons calling in the morning was magical."
What wildlife species can I expect to see on a South East Asia safari?
South East Asia's forests and rivers host a rich variety of wildlife. The Kinabatangan region in Borneo is home to orangutans proboscis monkeys pygmy elephants hornbills and crocodiles. Visitors to Sepilok can observe orangutans and sun bears while Thailand's parks feature gibbons macaques and numerous bird species. One TourRadar traveler reports: "We saw ten different primate species along the Kinabatangan River including wild orangutans and proboscis monkeys in their natural habitat."
How physically demanding are the wildlife viewing activities?
Wildlife viewing in South East Asia suits most fitness levels. The main activities include boat rides guided walks and platform observations. Sepilok Orangutan Centre offers easy access via boardwalks and Kinabatangan River tours take place entirely by boat. Some locations such as Khao Sok present options for more rigorous hiking. A TourRadar traveler shares: "The jungle treks were manageable and our guide ensured everyone could keep up while still spotting wildlife."
What conservation efforts can I support through these safari tours?
Tourism plays a key role in wildlife protection across South East Asia. The Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre works to save orphaned orangutans while the Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre focuses on protecting these endangered animals. Thailand offers ethical elephant sanctuaries that prioritize animal welfare.
