What people love about Mauritius Tours
- Mauritian Wonders (3* Hotel)
I had a great time in Mauritius on this 7 night break. The tour operator was very helpful and kept in touch throughout, and the day trip incorporated into the main trip was very enjoyable with a lovely tour guide. Transfers from and to the airport went very smoothly with friendly. I also booked 3 additional tours through the tour operator, all of which showed me so many sides to the island in terms of History, demographics, core industries. The hotel was more run down than expected from their website but the room was spacious and comfortable. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful given I seemed to be the only solo traveller there. My key disappointment was in the quality of the taste of the food at the hotel; desserts were done very well but the flavours for starters and main courses were lacking. Also I found it unusual that there was no bottled water provided as a matter of courtesy. I felt initially confined to the hotel for food but eventually navigated the local bus system which is very good to get to the main town of Grand Baie. This would have been great information provided at the start of my trip. Mauritius is a fabulous island, the beaches are beautiful, the local people have a wonderful vibe, the weather was excellent. Big thanks to Nawfal and Vanessa (SummerTimes)
What our customers ask about Mauritius Tours & Trips
Where can you experience the rich cultural mix of Mauritius?
Grand Bassin is this incredible sacred Hindu lake set right in an old volcanic crater - it's really special during Maha Shivaratri when pilgrims gather from all over. Port Louis has got so much going on - there's this buzzing Central Market Chinatown and the Blue Penny Museum where you can dive into the island's colonial past. The Pamplemousses Botanical Garden is definitely worth visiting too with these massive water lilies and rare Talipot palms you won't see anywhere else.
What if you want a more personalized private tour experience?
You've got lots of flexibility here especially around the South West where you can arrange private tours to see the Seven Colored Earth and Chamarel Waterfall. TourRadar travelers love having their own driver to explore at their own rhythm. There's this great "Simply Mauritius Private Tour" with 4-star accommodation that includes a full day private car tour taking you through Trou-Aux-Cerfs Voiliers de l'Ocean Ganga Talao Chamarel plus amazing views of Le Morne Mountain and Ile aux Benitiers. You can also book private tours like "Exotic North" or "Charms & Flavours" if those interest you.
How does the weather affect different activities and when's the best time to visit?
The tropical climate means you've got two main seasons. Summer runs November to April - it's warm and humid which is perfect if you're planning lots of water activities. Winter from May to October is cooler and drier so that's when you might want to do your hiking and national park visits. Just keep in mind there's always a chance of cyclones during summer months but don't let that put you off.
