- Egypt Family Holiday
This was an incredible trip and out first group trip and our first "adventure holiday" . Egypt felt really safe , our leader was fantastic and the country is full of wonders at every turn. What made it for us was the group makeup and the fact that out boys had instant friends even though at 5,7 and 9 they were by far the youngest but they still bonded with the other kids on the trip. As a parent we had sensible conversations with other adults, had time to read and relax but most importantly of all we got to do the same as our kids, we were on the journey too, not organising it and this made for a fantastic holiday for all of us and this would not have happened without the careful planning of the itinerary - it's pace was perfect and the supreme efforts of our leader Hany Mustapha . Thanks you Hany and thank you Intrepid for our best family holiday ever
- Family Egyptian Sphinx, Pyramids and Nile River
Overall it was a fantastic holiday and a wonderful, exciting and educational trip. Our children (10 & 12) had a fabulous time. We felt very lucky to have such a kind, funny and intelligent guide who was always on hand and keen to ensure we had the best time and the least to worry about. We also felt we got lucky with the other family on the tour who were lots of fun, keen and enthusiastic travellers and whose two boys, despite a large age gap with our children, were kind enough to spend lots of time together, got on like a house on fire and had so much fun. Highlights were the overnight train, the scenery at Aswan, sleeping aboard the felucca, the temple in Karnak, the valley of the kings and swimming at sunset in the Red Sea. Food was generally good but the food available in most of the hotels at lunchtime, poor versions of Italian dishes, was so disappointing when falafel, pitta, cheese pastries and other dishes we would happily eat for lunch were on offer at breakfast. The boat trip on the final day in the Red Sea was out of character with the rest of the tour - the crew showed little sign of caring about the reef or the fish, encouraging people to stand on the reef, disturb or feed fish for photo opportunities, and depositing us on a beach with a dreadful bar for two hours which constantly blasted music unsuitable for children. Drop this trip, replace it with a shorter snorkelling tour on a boat where the crew know and care about the reef and that would be a suitable end to an excellent holiday.

What our customers ask about Egypt Family Tours
What's the best time of year for families to visit Egypt?
Families will find the most pleasant conditions from October through April when temperatures stay moderate for exploring outdoor sites like the Pyramids and Valley of the Kings. A TourRadar traveler noted: "We visited in December and the weather was perfect for sightseeing with kids - warm but not too hot. The Nile cruise was particularly pleasant during this time." The summer season from June to August brings intense heat that can be difficult for children to handle during sightseeing activities.
What type of accommodation is available for families in Egypt?
Egypt offers well-appointed 4-5 star hotels such as the Steigenberger Pyramids Cairo and Hilton Hurghada Plaza Hotel with family rooms and kid-focused facilities. Nile cruise ships provide family cabins with connecting room options. A TourRadar traveler shared: "The accommodation was very comfortable especially the Steigenberger hotel which had great pool facilities for the kids and pyramid views from our family room."
What are the best family-friendly activities and attractions in Egypt?
Children and parents can ride camels near the Giza Pyramids take traditional felucca boat trips on the Nile explore King Tutankhamun's treasures at the Egyptian Museum and visit the vibrant Nubian communities in Aswan. A TourRadar traveler noted: "The camels rides were fantastic and my kids loved sailing down the Nile on the felucca. Our guide made the historical sites come alive for the children."
What is the recommended age range for family tours in Egypt?
Family tours generally welcome children between 4-12 years old though age requirements vary by tour operator. Egypt Best Holidays accepts travelers aged 1-99 while Explore! sets their minimum age at 7. A TourRadar traveler shared: "Our children (10 & 12) had a fabulous time. The guides were fantastic and made the historical sites come alive for kids of all ages." Many properties like the Pyramid Planet Hotel in Giza offer family-suitable rooms.
