What people love about Sailing Tours in Asia
- Sailing Thailand - Phuket to Phuket
I spent a whole week on a beautiful 24m long catamaran boat in the Andaman sea and here is what I experienced: warm, sunny weather, delicious & healthy thai food done by our private chef on board, crystal clear waters, tons of colorful fish, white sandy beaches, stunning sunsets, great thai massage, fresh mango & coconut shakes, big bucket parties, night swimming with phosphorescent plankton, millions of stars accompanied by amazing people from all over the world!! Definitely a different way to explore beautiful Thailand and to relax!
- All Included Halong Bay 2 Days 1 Night On 3-Star Cruise
What a fantastic trip. Just 22 on the boat was a good group size. We left the harbor last after lunch so the cruise out was peaceful with only a few boats. Likewise we left early in the morning and it felt like we had the place to ourselves. Amazing food, you won’t go hungry. Lots of included activities, I enjoyed the kayaking best. Guide gave us the hard sell for tips at the end.
- Phuket Sailing Adventure
This trip is amazing! The best way to see Thailand! (So much better than sitting in a resort in Phuket, Krabi, or any other 'over-run with tourists' destinations!) The crew on the boat were absolutely amazing - nothing was too much, we had our own skipper, local guide and boat mechanic, as well as our very own Thai chef! The food was the best I have ever had and 10 x better than anything we could find on land. Authentic Thai food, fresh fruit, lots of options, lots of variety, catered for all dietary requirements and every single thing was just absolutely delicious! The boat was also great - there were bean bags, hammocks, Stand Up Paddle boards, kayaks and snorkeling gear on board, you could be as active as you wanted and head off exploring your own private beaches, coves and reefs or you can laze about and read your book, sunbath etc. The crew were great at getting us to any popular beaches or snorkeling spots (ie. Monkey Bay) either early in the morning or later in the afternoon or evening, before/after the day trippers have come in, so we always had the whole place to ourselves - which was just incredible, and an experience you would never get otherwise. Just picture your own private beaches - (that during the day are over-run with tourists and day trippers - but that you get to have the whole place to yourself), bonfires on the beach, catching fresh fish that within 30 minutes is served up on your plate as fresh sushi or made in to an amazing Thai curry for lunch, exploring the mangroves, rock climbing in Railay, kayaking, snorkeling, SUP boarding and then climbing aboard for your freshly prepared delicious authentic Thai meal. Oh and did I mention the absolutely stunning sunrises and sunsets... and the option to sleep under the stars and admire the beautiful night skies without any light pollution! This is definitely one of the best trips I have ever done and will certainly be back for more... next on the list is the Burma sailing trip! :-) Thank you Intrepid!
What our customers ask about Sailing Tours & Trips in Asia
What are the key destinations covered on Asian sailing routes?
Asian sailing routes span some of the region's most notable waterways. Thailand's Andaman Sea routes navigate through Phuket and Phang Nga Bay with visits to James Bond Island and Ko Phi Phi. In Vietnam sailors explore the limestone formations of Halong Bay and Lan Ha Bay stopping at Viet Hai Village and Sung Sot Cave. Indonesia's waters around Komodo National Park take travelers to Padar Island and Pink Beach. A TourRadar traveler noted about Halong Bay: "The scenery of Halong Bay is beautiful - we especially enjoyed kayaking on day 1 around the Bright and Dark caves. The landscape was absolutely breathtaking."
What is the best time of year to go sailing in Thailand and the Maldives?
For Thailand the prime sailing months fall between November and April. During this period the waters around Phuket and Phi Phi islands see minimal rainfall and calm seas. The Maldives offers its best sailing from December through March when clear waters and excellent visibility create ideal conditions for snorkeling especially near South Malé Atoll. A TourRadar traveler shared about their Thailand trip: "We had perfect weather scenery was stunning and felt very lucky to experience this all from a sail boat rather than the crowded day tripper boats!"
What type of accommodation can I expect on an Asian sailing trip?
Asian sailing vessels provide modern amenities and comfortable sleeping quarters. The Rita Cruise in Halong Bay features deluxe cabins complete with private balconies air conditioning and ensuite bathrooms. The Essence Grand Cruise offers 55 sea-view rooms while smaller Thai catamarans typically house 2 deluxe double cabins and 7 standard twin/double cabins with climate control. One TourRadar traveler reported: "The cabin was very comfortable with a stunning view from our porthole and the boat was clean and well-maintained."
What's the typical group size on Asian sailing tours?
Asian sailing tours keep numbers modest to enhance the travel experience. Thai luxury catamarans usually host 8-12 guests while larger vessels like the Athena Cruise in Halong Bay accommodate 20-30 passengers. These smaller groups allow boats to access hidden bays and quiet coves. According to a TourRadar traveler: "Having only 8 people on our Thai sailing trip made it feel like a private yacht experience. We could easily customize our stops and activities based on group preferences."
What kind of meals are served on Asian sailing trips?
Onboard dining showcases local flavors prepared by dedicated chefs. Thai vessels serve fresh seafood and regional specialties while Maldivian boats offer both local and international dishes. In Halong Bay the Paradise Luxury presents refined Vietnamese cuisine. As one TourRadar traveler noted: "The food was amazing - some of the best Thai food I've ever eaten fresh ingredients and variety at every meal."
How much does an Asian sailing tour typically cost?
Daily rates for Asian sailing tours range from USD 150-300 depending on the route comfort level and duration. A basic 2-day Halong Bay experience starts at USD 270 while week-long Maldives adventures can reach USD 2350. Premium options like Paradise Sails Cruises command higher prices. One TourRadar traveler reflected: "At USD 286 per day it felt like good value given the quality of the boat all included activities meals and amazing locations we visited."
