10 Day Florida Itinerary, incl. Miami and Key West

- Day 1
Miami
Begin your trip in South Beach. Book a late afternoon hotel check-in to avoid rush hour traffic. Walk through the Art Deco Historic District at sunset when it's cooler and the neon lights create great photo opportunities.
- Day 2
Miami to Key West
Leave early for the 4-hour drive to Key West on the Overseas Highway. Take water and sunscreen for the journey. Visit the Anhinga Trail in Everglades National Park around 8 AM when wildlife is active and it's less humid. Once in Key West get around on foot or bike since parking in Old Town is tough and costs a lot.

Key West
Take the Conch Tour Train in the morning to get your bearings before it gets too hot. Head to Mallory Square by 4:30 PM for the sunset celebration. If you want a quieter sunset spot try Fort Zachary Taylor Historic State Park.

Key West to Naples
Drive back north in the morning. Stop at the Everglades for an airboat ride - book early when alligators are sunbathing. It's about 4 hours to Naples. For dinner check out Third Street South which has great outdoor restaurants. Book ahead if visiting from January to March.

St. Pete Beach
Spend two days on the beautiful Gulf Coast beaches near the Don CeSar. Bring water shoes since the sand gets very hot. Visit Fort De Soto Park in the morning for the best shell collecting at low tide.

Orlando Area
It takes about 2 hours to drive from St. Pete to Orlando. Stop at Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park to spot manatees especially in winter. If you're going to Disney World use Genie+ and book popular rides like Seven Dwarfs Mine Train first thing to avoid long waits.
- Day 9
Cape Canaveral to Delray Beach
Get to Kennedy Space Center when it opens at 9 AM before the tour buses arrive. Plan to spend at least 4-5 hours there. The drive to Delray takes 3 hours. Spend the evening on Atlantic Avenue enjoying the restaurants and shops.

Return to Miami
Spend your last morning in Delray before the 1-hour drive to Miami. Book flights after 1 PM to account for traffic on I-95.

Drive across the Sunshine Skyway Bridge (toll: $1.50) to Crystal River. Book an afternoon boat tour for better chances of seeing manatees. If you plan to swim with manatees tomorrow, arrange your wetsuit rental today.

Crystal River to Orlando via St. Augustine (380 km)
Start early for manatee swimming at 6:30 AM when the water is calmest. Visit St. Augustine next. Park at the Visitor Center ($15/day) to easily walk the historic district. Head to Orlando for the evening.

Orlando Activities
Choose between Kennedy Space Center or Disney/Universal parks. Kennedy Space Center opens at 9 AM. If you pick Magic Kingdom, arrive early because the park often reaches capacity by midday.

Orlando to Miami (370 km)
Take I-95 South back to Miami. Take an evening boat tour through Millionaire's Row from Bayside Marketplace. The 6:30 PM tour offers great sunset views of celebrity homes.

Miami Departure
Visit the Wynwood Walls (opens at 10 AM) on your final morning before heading to the airport. Plan to arrive at MIA 3 hours before international flights.

Get an early start to Cape Canaveral. Arrive at Kennedy Space Center right at 9 AM opening to avoid crowds. You'll want 4-5 hours to see everything. Reach Orlando by afternoon and check out International Drive's shops and restaurants.

Orlando
Take a full day to explore Orlando. The Rosen Inn puts you right near Pointe Orlando and major attractions. Buy theme park tickets ahead of time to skip long lines at the gates.
- Day 6
Orlando
Another day for Orlando attractions. The I-RIDE trolley is a good way to get around. It runs every 20 minutes on International Drive and costs less than parking. Visit Disney Springs in early evening after the crowds thin out.
- Day 7
St. Augustine & Cocoa Beach (367 km)
Head to St. Augustine early. See Castillo de San Marco first before it gets too hot. Save St. George Street walking for late afternoon when it's cooler. End your day watching the sunset from Cocoa Beach Pier.

Miami Beach (268 km)
Take Highway A1A back to Miami for great ocean views. Tour South Beach's Art Deco district and Little Havana. If you're flying out next day, stay near the airport since morning traffic can be heavy.
