12 Day France and Spain Itinerary, incl. Paris and Barcelona
Paris's Champs-Élysées kicks off 12 days of French-Spanish splendor. Loire Valley's Château de Chenonceau, traditional dinner at Montferrier farm, Lyon's traboules, and Barcelona's La Sagrada Família showcase cultural richness.

- Days 1-2
Paris
Start in the City of Light with an evening drive to see the lit-up Champs-Élysées and Arc de Triomphe. Your second day is perfect for a morning walking tour through local neighborhoods. A recent visitor shared: "The early morning walks through Parisian neighborhoods showed us a side of the city most tourists miss." Book your Eiffel Tower tickets online at least 2 months ahead if you want the quieter sunset time slots.

- Day 3
Loire Valley
Take a 2-hour drive to see the Gothic cathedral in Chartres before heading to the Loire Valley. Visit Château de Chambord for its unique double-helix staircase. For better photos with smaller crowds, go to Chenonceau in late afternoon. End your day with a traditional Tourangelle dinner at a local farm but bring a light jacket for the cool countryside evening.

- Day 4
Lyon
- Days 5-6
French Riviera
- Day 7
Arles and Carcassonne
Drive through Provence to Arles to see where Van Gogh painted. The Roman amphitheater is worth visiting but wear good shoes for the steep steps. Next up is Carcassonne's medieval citadel. One visitor noted: "Walking the ramparts at sunset gave us incredible views of the countryside, but bring layers as it gets windy up there."

- Days 8-9
Barcelona
- Days 10-12
Madrid
14 Day on the Camino de Santiago Itinerary, incl. Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port and Santiago de Compostela
Pedal from France through Spain over 14 days, covering 779.5km of historic pilgrimage routes. The Pyrenees welcome cyclists from Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port to Pamplona's medieval streets and La Rioja's wine region. Features authentic accommodations and regional cuisine.

- Days 1-2
Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port to Pamplona
Begin your journey in Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port, a picturesque French market town. The first day brings a challenging 1,200m climb over the Pyrenees. Choose between the steep Napoleon Route or the more bike-friendly Valcarlos Route to reach Roncesvalles, Spain. On day 2, enjoy an easier 48km ride through Basque country to Pamplona. Take time to visit the cathedral and sample local tapas and wine.

- Days 3-5
Pamplona to Burgos
The route takes you through scenic vineyards and farmland toward Logroño, the heart of La Rioja wine country. You will face a climb at Alto del Perdón as you approach Burgos. Stop to explore Estella's local market and visit the unique 12th-century octagonal Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Torres del Río. Plan a rest day in Burgos to see its stunning Gothic cathedral.

- Days 6-8
Burgos to León
The Meseta section presents long, straight routes across a high plateau with minimal shade. Stop in Sahagún to collect your halfway Compostela certificate. León offers a welcome break with its beautiful cathedral featuring impressive stained-glass windows. A cyclist's tip: "The Meseta tests your mental strength. Start early to avoid the worst heat and pack good sunscreen."

- Days 9-11
León to Samos
- Days 12-14
Final Push to Santiago
What people love about 2-week France and Spain tours
- Highlights of France and Barcelona (End Madrid, Madrid Extension)
Great trip. Awesome guide
- London to Madrid
Everything was good with the exception of the Ferry from UK to France ( 6+ Hours delay and the arrival at Paris was 3AM that has to be improved somehow, the next few days we have to rest a lot and avoid some activities because of that , ex: I wanted to go to the Moulin Rouge and couldn't because was too tired !! )
- Camino de Santiago (Francés) Guided *CYCLE* Tour/Packing/MTB (All Inclusive)
Traveling overseas can be stressful. Luckily we had Chris and Marco taking care of us the entire way. That included meetings before the trip to make sure we understood what to expect. Chris sent us a training schedule that we followed pretty closely to get ready. Once we started the Camino Frances through the end we never worried about availability for hotels or good restaurants--they had it covered. We got to see some of the most beautiful countryside and also the important Pelegrino art along the way. I couldn't be more satisfied with the journey. I would highly recommend Climbing Mountains to anyone without hesitation.
