  • Day 1

    Los Angeles

    Start your trip in LA. Plan for an afternoon flight into LAX to skip the morning traffic. After the hotel transfer you'll have time to relax and adjust to the time zone. If you're staying near the airport, try In-N-Out Burger for dinner. It's a California classic and you can watch planes land while you eat.

    
  • Day 2

    Los Angeles

    Take an early morning city tour through Downtown LA. Wear comfortable shoes when you visit Hollywood Boulevard. You'll spend time looking for your favorite stars on the Walk of Fame. After lunch head to Beverly Hills and Sunset Boulevard. In the evening go to Long Beach's Shoreline Village to see the Queen Mary ship at sunset. For dinner try Parker's Lighthouse.     Los Angeles to Las Vegas (4.5-hour drive)

    Leave LA early to reach Vegas by afternoon. Pack water and sunscreen for the Mojave Desert drive. Once you arrive take a guided tour of the Strip to get your bearings. Watch the Bellagio fountains at night. The show runs every 30 minutes until midnight. Stay on the Strip if possible. The Luxor pyramid is a good value option that's still close to everything.

    
  • Day 4

    Grand Canyon Day Trip

    Start at 7 AM for the Grand Canyon. Stop in Seligman on Route 66 and take photos at the Snow Cap Drive-In. When you reach the canyon go straight to Mather Point before the crowds arrive. The 2,000-foot viewpoints are perfect for photos. Wear good shoes for the rim trails. They're tougher than they look. You can book helicopter tours for about $299. Stay overnight in Flagstaff. Pack a light jacket since it's cooler at 7,000 feet elevation.

    Flagstaff to Las Vegas

    Drive back to Vegas past Hoover Dam. Sit on the right side of the bus for the best views. Spend the afternoon at South Premium Outlets for better deals than the north location. The evening is free for shows. Book Cirque du Soleil at least 2 weeks ahead. Tickets start at $89.

    Las Vegas

    Use your last morning in Vegas wisely. Most hotels let you check out late or store luggage. Take the monorail along the east side of the Strip ($13 for all-day access) for last-minute sightseeing or shopping.

  • Days 1-2

    North Rim Grand Canyon

    Drive 4 hours from Flagstaff to the quieter North Rim. Visit Old Navajo Bridge before 10 AM to spot California Condors underneath. The North Rim is at 8,000 feet so take time to adjust on your first day. Start with the easy 1.5-mile Bright Angel Point trail before moving on to the steeper North Kaibab Trail to Coconino Overlook.     South Rim Grand Canyon

    Take the scenic 4-hour drive to the South Rim on Desert View Drive. For a quieter experience choose the Grandview Trail over the popular Bright Angel Trail. Start your hike by 7 AM to beat the heat. You'll descend 2,500 feet across 3 miles and pass old copper mining ruins. Remember to drink water every hour since the dry air and elevation can quickly lead to dehydration.

    Sedona

    The 2.5-hour drive through Oak Creek Canyon brings you to Sedona's red rock landscape. Take on the Cathedral Rock trail for iconic views but wear good hiking shoes since the sandstone can be slippery. If you prefer an easier option try the 4-mile Courthouse Butte loop.   • Day 1

    Los Angeles to Las Vegas

    Travel east through Death Valley's stark desert landscape. Take plenty of water and sun protection, as Death Valley often sees temperatures above 100°F (38°C). Stop for shopping at the Nevada State Line outlets on the way. Once in Vegas, tour the Strip and visit Fremont Street before 10 PM to see the full light show.

    Start early to avoid crowds at Hoover Dam, just 45 minutes from Vegas. Book your power plant tour ahead of time since they sell out quickly. Visit in the morning before the intense midday heat.     Las Vegas to Sedona
