Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Arrival at Kilimanjaro

Your arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport marks the beginning of your safari. A transfer to Arusha is included, so once you clear customs and collect your bags, you'll meet your CEO and driver for a welcome meeting. This is when you'll get your initial briefing about the week ahead and what to expect on the drives.

    Landmarks/POIs
    Kilimanjaro International Airport
    Arusha
  2. Day 2

    Lake Manyara National Park

Start the day in Mto wa Mbu with a guided walk through this settlement where you'll see how Tanzania's different tribal groups live and work together. The local market gives you a real sense of daily life, and stopping by artisan workshops lets you see how people create their crafts. After sharing lunch with a local family, you'll head to Lake Manyara National Park. By late afternoon, you'll do your first safari drive from camp, looking for lions, elephants, hippos, and giraffes around the park.

Along the way, you'll stop at Olduvai Gorge Museum to learn about the archaeological discoveries Louis and Mary Leakey made here back in 1960. Once you reach Serengeti and get settled, a late afternoon safari drive takes you across the golden plains where you'll spot giraffes, lions, and antelope herds spread out across the landscape.

You'll have a picnic lunch right there with the wildlife and crater views around you, then travel to Pembeni for dinner and the night in the wilderness.

Moses as well as out driver Omega were truly wonderful. Friendly outgoing generous with their time. Informative. I can’t say enough. There was a little I’ll will between 2 of the travelors and Moses was exceptionally good at easing the problems and making everyone feel comfortable and happy in spite of them. The accommodations and the staff of the places we stayed were excellent

The guide Zuri, and driver Hamdani were the BEST! They were fun, knowledgeable, professional, helpful, handled all our needs and requests efficiently, and were so enthusiastic about making the trip a great experience for the group. Zuri especially, is a gem - a superb professional and a great asset for the G Adventures company. They should find and hire others like her.

Excellent Itinerary with informative guides. Very good accommodations. Good vegetarian options. Feels great that G adventures along with their collaboration with National Geographic contributes to the local community installing chimneys in humble Masai dwellings to prevent lung and breathing related ailments in the local Masai people.

    Andrew

    Asked on April 3rd, 2023

My primary interest in going to Tanzania is to see the Serengeti migration river crossing. I understand that July - September would be the best time to have a chance of experiencing this. Can you give me any information about this with regard to this trip? Also, what level of difficulty would you say this trip is?

    Other
    Tour Details
    • We're not sure what you mean by "level of difficulty" as there are no hikes or anything included in this itinerary, so it has a physical rating of 2 out of 5 if that's what you are referring to. As for the wildebeest migration, the most important thing to understand is that this really is (like all things wildlife/nature related, like weather) it is quite unpredictable and can vary year to year. The migration is massive and runs year round, cycling through the country and crossing a few different rivers. It's also helpful to note that this tour only includes 2 nights in the Serengeti.
