- Day 1
Arrival at Kilimanjaro
Your arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport marks the beginning of your safari. A transfer to Arusha is included, so once you clear customs and collect your bags, you'll meet your CEO and driver for a welcome meeting. This is when you'll get your initial briefing about the week ahead and what to expect on the drives.

Lake Manyara National Park
Start the day in Mto wa Mbu with a guided walk through this settlement where you'll see how Tanzania's different tribal groups live and work together. The local market gives you a real sense of daily life, and stopping by artisan workshops lets you see how people create their crafts. After sharing lunch with a local family, you'll head to Lake Manyara National Park. By late afternoon, you'll do your first safari drive from camp, looking for lions, elephants, hippos, and giraffes around the park.

Lake Manyara to Serengeti National Park
Your drive heads through the Rift Valley toward Serengeti National Park. Along the way, you'll stop at Olduvai Gorge Museum to learn about the archaeological discoveries Louis and Mary Leakey made here back in 1960. Once you reach Serengeti and get settled, a late afternoon safari drive takes you across the golden plains where you'll spot giraffes, lions, and antelope herds spread out across the landscape.

Serengeti National Park
This day is devoted entirely to exploring Serengeti. You'll head out on morning and afternoon safari drives searching the grasslands for Africa's big five: lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, and buffalo. Between drives, you'll visit the Serengeti Wildlife Research Centre where a visiting researcher gives a talk about the work being done to understand and protect the park's wildlife.

Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater
An early departure from Serengeti takes you across the savanna to Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The full-day safari drive into Ngorongoro Crater is the highlight, where the world's largest non-flooded caldera holds around 25,000 animals. You'll have a picnic lunch right there with the wildlife and crater views around you, then travel to Pembeni for dinner and the night in the wilderness.

Pembeni to Arusha
Leaving Pembeni, you'll travel to a Maasai village to see the G Adventures-supported Clean Cookstoves Project firsthand. A Maasai woman will talk about how the project has made a difference in her community. During the village tour, you'll visit traditional homes and actually help build a new stove. From there, you'll drive to Arusha for lunch, then spend the rest of the day exploring the safari capital on your own terms.
