Itinerary
- Day 1
Canberra
You'll head out of Canberra toward Berrima, then continue to Gold Creek Station where the Starr Family runs a 400-hectare sheep farm. There you'll watch a sheep shearing demonstration and have a be my guest BBQ lunch with the family. After that, you'll head back into the city to check out Parliament House and walk through its grounds. Later this evening, you'll settle in at your hotel with your group for a drink.

Canberra - Wangaratta
Start early and climb Mt. Ainslie, where you get 360-degree views across Canberra. Then you'll cross into Victoria and head to Beechworth, a well-preserved gold rush town from the 1850s. You'll wander through local shops selling honey and gold items, look around galleries and museums, and meet the publican at the historic pub. Afternoon tea happens at the town's oldest hotel before you head on to Wangaratta for the night.

Melbourne
You'll arrive in Melbourne and start with a sightseeing tour covering the CBD, Victorian history, Southbank's riverfront, the arts district, and the Botanic Gardens. There's a guided tour at the Koorie Heritage Trust Gallery to learn about First Peoples arts and culture. After that, you'll see the Crown complex. The rest of the day is yours to explore on your own, or you can book a seafood dinner watching the sunset over the Yarra from your centrally located hotel.

Melbourne
Melbourne is yours to explore at your own pace today. You could head up the Eureka Skydeck for views from the Southern Hemisphere's highest viewing platform, or take a history and donuts walking tour through the laneways and arcades. The Puffing Billy Steam Train through the Dandenong Ranges is another option, along with Yarra Valley wineries. Phillip Island lets you see the little penguins emerge at sunset if you're interested in that experience.

Melbourne - Warrnambool
You'll drive along the Great Ocean Road, one of the world's great coastal drives with plenty of spots to photograph. Stop in Apollo Bay, a Mediterranean-inspired village, to watch boats come in at the harbour. From there you'll see the Twelve Apostles, limestone formations that rise 45 metres above the Southern Ocean (seven are still standing). You'll also explore Loch Ard Gorge and London Bridge before arriving in Warrnambool for the night.

Warrnambool - Naracoorte
You'll drive through Tower Hill Wildlife Reserve, a dormant volcanic crater where you'll likely spot emus and koalas. After crossing into South Australia, you'll see the Blue Lake in Mt. Gambier with its crater-filled landscape. Next is the Coonawarra wine region where you'll taste six wines at Wynns Coonawarra Estate and learn about their production and the region's Cabernet Sauvignon reputation. Alexandra Cave offers a guided tour of an 800,000-year-old fossil site with a local specialist. Dinner wraps up the day at the Highlander restaurant.

Naracoorte - Kangaroo Island
Start at Victor Harbor, the seaside town where you can relax with fish and chips on the beach or take a horse-drawn tram to Granite Island to watch white surf hit the granite formations. Then you'll board a ferry to Kangaroo Island, Australia's third-largest island (locals call it KI). The island is known for native wildlife including sea lions, koalas, and lots of bird species. You'll arrive in Kingscote for your stay.

You'll explore Kangaroo Island's natural features starting with the Remarkable Rocks and Admirals Arch in Flinders Chase National Park. At Seal Bay Conservation Park, a local specialist leads a guided walk to learn about the Australian sea lion, one of the rarest species with only 12,000 individuals left. You'll understand how they hunt, interact, and move. Lunch at Vivonne Bay Bistro includes wine, then you tour the Emu Ridge Eucalyptus Oil Distillery, South Australia's only commercial one. Later you'll meet another local specialist at Kangaroo Island Brewery to taste fine local beers.
