Itinerary
- Day 1
Marrakesh
You'll arrive at Marrakesh Menara Airport and get transferred to your riad in the Marrakech Medina. This gives you time to settle in, get your bearings around the neighborhood, and rest up before heading out on the trails tomorrow.
- Day 2
Marrakech to High Atlas Mountains
Head out early from Marrakech, driving south through the Moulay Brahim gorge toward the High Atlas foothills. At the Imi Oughlad trailhead you'll meet your Berber muleteer crew and start hiking upward on switchback mule tracks past cornfields and pine and juniper woods for about 2 hours until you reach Tiz n'tachete. You'll stop to take in the valleys below, then walk another 30 minutes to Imi n'Ifri where you'll have a field picnic. The afternoon brings a 2.5 hour hike southwest to Tiziane, the red clay terraced village where you're staying the night in a gite or bivouac.

High Atlas Trek
After breakfast, hike up through the Assif n'ait Oussaden valley where walnut groves line the path. You'll make your way to Tizi n'taghrhourte and then across open landscape to Assaka spring, a walk that takes about 2.5 hours total. Stop for a field picnic at the spring to rest and eat. Later in the afternoon, head down along forest edges until you reach the Berber village of D'knt. You'll have dinner there and stay overnight in a family home or bivouac.

High Atlas Trek
Start the day after breakfast with a 3 hour hike through walnut groves, cornfields, and barley fields heading up to Tizi n'tagdalte. Along the way you'll encounter shepherds and local people carrying goods on the trail. From there, descend through juniper trees down to a small spring where you'll take a break and have your picnic. Once rested, spend another 3 hours hiking down winding upper slope tracks until you reach a small river at the start of the Assif n'ait oussaden valley. End your day at Tizi oussem village for dinner and an overnight stay in a mountain gite.

High Atlas Trek to Imlil
After breakfast, hike upward through pine and juniper trees crossing Tizi M'zzik, then make your way down slowly to the hamlet of M'zzik. Here you'll picnic surrounded by orchards of cherry, apple, and nut trees with mountain views all around. In the afternoon, continue down the trail to the Berber trailhead village of Imlil where you'll finish the day.

Landmarks/POIs Tizi M'zzik Imlil - Day 6
High Atlas Trek
From breakfast, walk up winding mule tracks to Tizi n'Tamaterte to see panoramic views of the surrounding Atlas mountain range and valleys spread out in front of you. Have your picnic right there at Tizi n'Tamaterte with views of Jebel Oukaimeden and the plateau. After eating, follow the path down into the Imnane valley until you get to your gite in Wanskra village for the night.

High Atlas Trek to Imlil
Trek down the Assif Imnane valley this morning, passing through several Berber hamlets and hiking up to Tizi n'Ageursiwal. After crossing the col, descend winding mule tracks to the village of Aguersiwal for lunch. Once you've eaten, travel along a river bed close to Imlil, then spend another hour walking up the valley to reach Imlil itself where you're staying the night.

Imlil to Marrakech
Get transferred back to Marrakech around 1:30pm. You'll have the afternoon to walk around the city, check out the souks, or just relax at a café before heading back to your riad for your final night.

Your trek wraps up today. You'll get transferred to Marrakesh airport for your flight home, taking with you memories of the High Atlas mountains, the Berber villages, and the trails you walked for the past week.
