Itinerary
- Day 1AccraYou'll arrive in Accra and head to your hotel for check-in. After settling in, you'll get a welcome drink and an orientation to help you get oriented. If your timing works out, there's a chance you'll be greeted with traditional cultural drumming and dancing. The night is spent in Accra. - Meals

- Day 2AccraFollowing breakfast, a guided tour takes you through Accra's administrative and economic heart. You'll see how colonial and modern architecture blend together throughout the city. The itinerary includes stops at the W.E.B. Dubois Center for Pan African Culture, Independence/Black Star Square, and Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park. Later you'll finish at the Arts Centre where local artifacts are available and haggling over prices is part of the experience. - Meals

- Day 3Accra to ElminaAfter breakfast, you'll drive into Ghana's Central Region to explore historic forts and castles. Cape Coast Castle comes first, originally built by the Swedes in 1653 and later controlled by the British. It houses the West African Historical Museum established by the Smithsonian Institute. Next is Elmina Castle, constructed by the Portuguese in 1482, marking the first European structure in Sub-Saharan Africa. The colorful harbor below features traditional pirogues that make for great photographs. - Meals

- Day 4Elmina to Kakum National ParkYou'll drive through the historic Denkyira Kingdom to reach Kakum National Park, one of West Africa's remaining tropical rainforests. Here you can choose between a 2 km nature walk through exotic plants or tackle the famous Canopy Walkway with seven bridges stretching 330m and rising 40m above the forest. By afternoon, you'll visit Fort St. Jago, built by the Dutch in 1665, which overlooks Elmina Castle and holds important military history. - Meals

- Day 5Kakum to Busua BeachAfter breakfast, you'll head west along the coast toward Sekondi and Takoradi in the Western Region. You'll see Forts St. Sebastian and Fort Orange at Shama and Sekondi, built as Dutch structures in 1526 and 1640 respectively. In the afternoon, you'll drive through Takoradi to check out the busy Market Circle and harbor, then visit the woodcarvers' village to browse high-quality carved wood products. - Meals

- Day 6Busua Beach to BeyinYou'll drive to Beyin in the morning to visit Fort Appolonia, a less-traveled fort that gives you a real sense of its haunting past. Built by the British in 1770 and damaged in 1873, it was rebuilt between 1962 and 1968. You'll also stop at Fort Metal Cross at Dixcove, constructed by the British in 1697 and later controlled by the Dutch. - Meals

- Day 7Busua Beach to KumasiAfter breakfast you'll head through the forest zone toward Kumasi, the historical center of the Ashanti Empire. The Manhyia Palace Museum provides insight into Ashanti kings and their royal traditions going back to 1700. You'll tour Fort St. George, which now functions as the Military Museum and was built in 1820. The day includes city monuments honoring great Ashanti leaders, and you'll wrap up at the National Cultural Center with the Prempeh II Jubilee Museum and studios where brass workers, potters, and batik makers display their crafts. - Meals

- Day 8KumasiThis day focuses on visiting three renowned craft villages in Ashanti. You'll start in Ahwiaa with its woodcarvers, then move to Ntonso, famous for Adinkra patterns, and finish at Bonwire for Kente weaving. Throughout the day you'll watch artisans at work and have the chance to purchase directly from them. - Meals
