- Day 1
Kathmandu
You'll arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport where your Nepal Intrepid Treks representative meets you for the transfer to your hotel. After settling in, there's time to acclimate before joining an evening group meeting with your guide and other travelers. Later, you'll head to Thamel market for some wandering around, then wrap up with a traditional Nepali dinner.

Kathmandu to Jagat
Following breakfast, you'll drive along the scenic Prithvi Highway toward Jagat, passing through small villages and valleys with views of snow-capped Annapurna and Machapuchare. Lunch happens along the way, then you transition to a local jeep or bus from Besisahar while your guide handles permits and entry tickets for Annapurna Conservation Area. By evening you reach Jagat, a small Gurung village in the Marsyangdi River valley.

Jagat to Dharapani
Your trek starts leaving Jagat today. You'll cross suspension bridges over Marsyangdi Khola to reach Tal village, the first stop in Manang district, where waterfalls line the path. After a rest, the trail takes you through rugged terrain on stone-paved staircases and across the Marsyandi River. You arrive at Dharapani by day's end, a charming village with warm hospitality and mountain views.

Dharapani to Chame
Walking through forests of pine and fir, you'll pass long Mani walls carved with prayers. Your first major view of Annapurna II comes into sight as you trek toward Chame, the main hub of the Manang region. Chame has solid facilities including Wi-Fi, cafes, and a bank, making it a good stop before heading to your overnight accommodation.

Chame to Pisang
The trek today goes through a dramatic deep gorge with the river running below. Paungda Danda, a massive arched rock formation rising 1,500 meters above the valley floor, is the real highlight of this section, looking like a giant fossilized wave. From there, you continue toward Pisang as the landscape shifts to high, dry alpine terrain with fewer trees and noticeably drier air.

Pisang to Manang
You'll take the upper path today, climbing well above the valley floor through ancient villages like Ghyaru and Ngawal that feel disconnected from time. Panoramic views of the Annapurnas come and go throughout the hike as you make your way toward Manang. The high-altitude traverse offers exceptional views all day long.

Manang
This is an active rest day built in for acclimatization to the altitude. Optional short treks include visiting Gangapurna Lake or Chongkor Viewpoint for valley and glacier views. Alternatively, you can wander Manang's ancient alleys, check out the monastery, and relax at a local bakery with apple pie and coffee.

Manang to Tilicho Base Camp
You'll take a less-traveled route today, deviating from the main circuit. The trek goes through the ancient village of Khangsar and then through challenging landslide terrain that demands careful footing and delivers an adrenaline rush. By afternoon you reach Tilicho Base Camp, a collection of teahouses sitting in a desolate rock bowl at the edge of everything.

Tilicho Base Camp to Siri Kharka
Starting in darkness, you hike toward Tilicho Lake with a slow, relentless climb ahead. At nearly 5,000 meters, the impossible blue lake sits in a bowl of ice and stone. After taking in the views, you descend back to base camp and then trek to Siri Kharka. Expect a full day with significant altitude gain and plenty of memorable moments.

Siri Kharka to Yak Kharka
You rejoin the main circuit now. The trail climbs steadily through high meadows, scrubland, and broad-view terrain where herds of blue sheep and yaks graze calmly. By day's end you arrive at Yak Kharka, a quiet village whose name literally means 'Yak Pastures,' offering peaceful conditions before the challenging pass ahead.

Yak Kharka to Thorong Phedi
Today's a short but significant hike to get into position for tomorrow's pass crossing. Every step brings you higher and the air becomes noticeably thinner as you go. You reach Thorong Phedi, the pass base, around lunchtime. The afternoon is for resting, drinking water, eating hearty pasta, and getting to bed early.

Thorong Phedi to Muktinath
The big day arrives. You start before dawn with headlamps, climbing through near-total darkness and thin air. As sunrise comes, it lights up the surrounding summits while you push upward. Reaching Thorong La Pass at 5,416 meters brings celebration with prayer flags all around. Then comes the long, steep descent to Muktinath, a sacred spiritual site that feels like stepping into another world.

Muktinath to Jomsom
Your legs will definitely feel this one, but today is all downhill. The landscape transforms completely as you enter Lower Mustang, a high-altitude desert of rock, sand, and wind with a wild-west feel to it. Following the Kali Gandaki River down a wide, windswept valley brings you to Jomsom by evening, a town famous for its face-peeling afternoon winds and delicious apples.

Jomsom to Pokhara
A 25-minute flight from Jomsom to Pokhara gives you breathtaking views as you soar between two 8,000-meter mountains through the world's deepest canyon. Then you burst out into Pokhara's green, lush valley and land in what feels like paradise. After landing, it's time for a hot shower, cold beer, and a massage to celebrate finishing your trek.

Pokhara to Kathmandu
You return to Kathmandu after a relaxing day by Pokhara lake. The flight or road journey back is a reflective one with the mountains now behind you in memory. That evening, enjoy one last wonderful Nepali meal, talking and laughing with your group about the trek you've just completed.

Kathmandu
Your last day in Nepal arrives. If you have an early flight, there may be time for last-minute souvenir shopping and negotiations at local markets. Your Nepal Intrepid Treks representative handles your airport transfer. You leave weary but stronger, more relaxed, with a piece of the Himalayas firmly lodged in your heart.
