Itinerary
- Day 1
Fort Augustus
You'll arrive in Fort Augustus by your own transportation, with train options from Glasgow and Edinburgh going to Fort William first, then a bus or cab from there. Once you're settled, the town has museums and restaurants to check out. If you have time before evening, there's a chance to take a short boat trip on Loch Ness to get your bearings for the week ahead.

Landmarks Caledonian Canal Loch Ness - Day 2
Invermoriston
This is a challenging day on the trail with steep climbs through birch and pine forests. You'll walk alongside streams with views of Loch Ness opening up as you go. The route passes through Invermoriston village, where you can see a small bridge designed by Thomas Telford. The full walk covers around 13 km and takes about 3 hours of actual hiking time.

Drumnadrochit
A moderate hiking day with several steep sections and plenty of ups and downs to manage. If you're comfortable and the weather cooperates, experienced hikers can make a detour to climb Meall Fuar-Mhonaidh for views across the region. Another option is heading to Urquhart Castle to see its impressive position overlooking Loch Ness. By evening you'll reach Drumnadrochit, a small village with visitor centers dedicated to the Loch Ness Monster.

- Day 4
Inverness
This is a long hiking day, though you can shorten it by taking a cab from Drumnadrochit to Loch Laide if needed. From there you'll descend toward Blackford and reconnect with the Caledonian Canal in the Great Glen. The day finishes in Inverness, a city with interesting historic and modern Victorian architecture worth walking through after your time on the trail.

Inverness
After breakfast, your tour wraps up. From Inverness there are good train connections to Glasgow, Perth, and Edinburgh if you're heading further. Inverness airport is also nearby if you're flying out instead.
