  1. Day 1

    Arrival in Japan

    You'll arrive in Japan and get transferred to your hotel to settle in and rest. During the afternoon, the tour guide will go over the itinerary and what to expect for the coming days.

  2. Day 2

    Macau - Hong Kong

    Start with a guided tour through Macau's historic centre, seeing ancient churches, decorative tiles, the fortress, and China's oldest lighthouse. After lunch, you'll cross the Hong Kong-Macau bridge, which stretches over 30 kilometres with a 6-kilometre underwater tunnel and artificial islands. Once in Hong Kong, take the Star Ferry across the bay to view the illuminated skyline from the water, then return to your hotel for dinner.

  3. Day 3

    Hong Kong

    After breakfast, walk through Hong Kong's financial district with its towering skyscrapers and visit the History Museum to learn about the city's colonial past and World War period. You'll stroll along the Avenue of the Stars by the waterfront to see tributes to film celebrities. Take the Star Ferry across Hong Kong Bay, then head up to Victoria Peak (552 m/1,811 feet) by bus to take in the city views. Ride the Peak Tram back down and have the rest of the afternoon free.

    Head to the airport and fly to Busan (flight included). After you clear immigration and customs, meet your assistant in arrivals and transfer to your hotel. The remainder of the day is yours to explore on your own schedule.

  5. Day 5

    Busan

    Travel from Busan to Haedong Yonggung, a 14th-century Buddhist temple situated by the sea. You'll then stop at the UN Memorial Cemetery before visiting the country's largest fish market near Nampo Port, where you can grab lunch. From there, walk through Yongdusan Park to see its 120-meter pagoda, then head to Songdo Beach to ride the country's first marine cable car (if weather allows). End the day exploring Gamcheon Culture Village with its winding streets, art galleries, pottery studios, and cafes before heading back to Busan.

    Busan - Gyeongju - Daegu

    Leave Busan and visit Seokguram Buddhist Grotto, an 8th-century site carved into Tohamsan's slopes, followed by Bulguksa Temple. You'll arrive in Gyeongju, Korea's longest-lasting capital across 992 years and 56 kings, and photograph the wooden Woljeonggyo Bridge. After lunch, explore Tumuli Park with its 1,500-year-old royal burial mounds and go inside one tomb. Continue to Cheomsongdae Astronomical Observatory, East Asia's oldest astronomical structure and a UNESCO site. Finish the day in Daegu viewing Dongsan Cheongna Hill and the busy Dongseong-ro shopping street.

    Daegu - Andong - Seoul

    Check out Daegu's Yangnyeongsi Museum of Traditional Medicine and wander the Herbal Medicine Market known for quality ginseng and other products. Travel north to Andong and see Hahoe, a UNESCO-listed traditional village that feels preserved in time. Tour the Hahoe Mask Museum with its extensive collection from around the world. After a local restaurant lunch, visit the 16th-century Byeongsan Seowon Confucian Academy located beside a river. Arrive in Seoul by late afternoon.

  8. Day 8

    Seoul - DMZ and City

    Start early heading to Cheorwon and its DMZ section dividing North and South Korea. See the Second Tunnel, which North Korea secretly dug and the South discovered in 1975. Visit Cheorwon Peace Observatory for panoramic DMZ views and sightings of North Korea's first villages, plus a small war museum. You'll see the abandoned Woljeong-ri railway station and Baek Ma Battle Memorial honouring a French UN battalion. After lunch, visit a local makgeolli producer to learn about traditional Korean rice liquor. Return to Seoul and see City Hall's architecture, Deoksugung Palace illuminated at night, and Myeongdong, South Korea's biggest shopping and entertainment district. Have dinner at a local restaurant and take the metro back to your hotel.

    Seoul

    Spend five hours on a comprehensive guided tour of Seoul. Visit Changdeokgung Palace, a UNESCO site set within a large park that contains multiple palace buildings. Pass through Bukchon Hanok Village, a traditional neighbourhood with historic homes, then see the War Memorial of Korea with its extensive displays on conflicts that shaped the country, particularly the Korean War and international involvement. Grab lunch at a local restaurant, then head to Gangnam District, one of Seoul's most active areas with shopping and entertainment. Finish at Lotte World Tower (550 metres/1,804 feet) where you can visit the observation deck or explore the park and upscale shopping below. Head back to your hotel with time to yourself.

    So far, we’ve been on three travel tours — two with Europamundo and one with another company — and, by far, "The Essence of Korea and Jeju Island" tour was the most rewarding experience, thanks largely to the exceptional tour guides. Johan Jungtaek Hong served as our Korean-to-English translator on the first day, setting a warm and welcoming tone. He shared thoughtful background information about each site before we arrived and spoke about his family’s history of service to the country, highlighting Korea’s enduring strength and resilience. Since we didn’t know anyone in South Korea and weren’t sure how we’d be received, Johan played a crucial role in helping us feel grounded and quickly find our rhythm on the tour. Seony Kim rotated in at the end of the first day as our translator for the following days, and her dedication was evident from the start. She actively guided us to hidden gems at each site, making sure we didn’t miss a thing. A gifted storyteller with a deep understanding of Korean history and culture, Seony brought each location to life with insight drawn from her passion for history. Thanks to her, we left every site with a deeper appreciation and a genuine curiosity about Korea’s past and present. Not only is she fluent in Korean and English, but she’s also learning Spanish! Although most people on the tour spoke Spanish and very few spoke English, Johan and Seony looked out for everyone, offering to take pictures and answering questions about tour logistics and historical sites. We are incredibly grateful to our tour guides for making our experience in South Korea truly wonderful. Any traveler would be very lucky to have them on their journey. Thank you, Johan, Seony, and Europamundo!
