Tokyo
A full day exploring Tokyo starts with a five-hour guided tour hitting the major spots: Zojoji Temple for those Tokyo Tower views, the famous Shibuya Crossing, Meiji Shrine, the Imperial Palace gardens, Nijubashi Bridge, and Akihabara's electronics district. After that, you'll head up Tokyo Skytree for panoramic city views. By evening, take the subway to Shinjuku and have dinner at a local restaurant included with your tour.

- Day 3
Tokyo to Kawaguchiko
Drive toward Mount Fuji with scenic views the whole way. First stop is Arakurayama Sengen Park where the pagodas frame Mount Fuji perfectly. Arriving in Kawaguchiko, you'll visit Fuji Sengen Shrine and then take a boat ride on the lake. The afternoon takes you toward Mount Fuji's Fifth Station through thick forests, climbing to 2,305 meters/7,560 feet. You'll stay overnight at a traditional ryokan with hot spring access and dinner included.

- Day 4
Kawaguchiko to Kyoto
Follow scenic roads around mountain lakes to reach Iyashi no Sato Nenba, an old village from 1966 where traditional wooden houses now operate as craft shops and galleries. You'll also visit Shiraito Falls with its 20-meter drop cascading through rocks. From there, head to Nagoya to check out the Toyota Museum, then travel on to Kyoto for your overnight stay.

- Day 5
Kyoto
Spend the full day exploring Kyoto, Japan's former capital with hundreds of temples and shrines. Start in Arashiyama seeing Togetsukyo Bridge, then walk through Tenryuji Temple's grounds and its famous bamboo forest. Continue to Fushimi Inari Shrine with its thousands of torii gates, the Imperial Palace, and Kinkakuji Temple (the Golden Pavilion) with its gardens. After the guided portion wraps up, you have free time to wander through Gion, Kyoto's traditional geisha district with its historic wooden machiya buildings.

- Day 6
Kyoto to Nagano
Travel to Tsumago, a charming village known for its well-preserved wooden houses and quiet streets considered among Japan's prettiest. You'll have free time to walk around and lunch is included. Next, head to Matsumoto to see the 16th-century Matsumoto Castle, known locally as 'The Crow' because of its dark exterior. After exploring this lively city on your own, travel on to Nagano for overnight stay.

- Day 7
Nagano
Start at Zenko-ji Temple, a major pilgrimage destination holding Japan's first Buddhist image. You'll participate in the Gomakuyo ceremony for good fortune. Then head into the Japanese Alps to Jigokudani Monkey Park where you'll walk forested trails and see Japanese macaques soaking in hot springs. The route passes through high-mountain landscapes and semi-active volcanoes, reaching 2,172 meters/7,126 feet. Later visit Kusatsu hot-spring town with its central plaza and open-air onsen in the city park. End at Ikaho, another hot-spring town, staying overnight in a ryokan with hot spring access and traditional Japanese dinner.

Walk along Kanmangafuchi Abyss where hundreds of Jizo statues line the riverbanks. You'll have free time to check out the town center before heading back to Tokyo, arriving around 6:30 p.m.
