Itinerary
- Day 1
Marrakech to Dades Gorges
You'll start in Marrakech and drive through the High Atlas Mountains, crossing the Tizi n'Tichka pass where you get sweeping views of the surrounding peaks and valleys. The route takes you to Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site with centuries-old kasbahs built into the hillside. From there you'll pass through the Valley of Roses, then continue on to Dades Gorges where you're spending the night in a guesthouse. The canyon walls here are dramatic and red-hued, especially nice as the light changes through the day.

Dades Gorges to Merzouga
Morning departure from Dades Gorges takes you to Todra Gorges, where the rock walls tower hundreds of feet on each side and create a narrow, canyon-like passage. It's a great spot for hiking or taking photos of the geological formations. You'll pass through Erfoud, a town known for its fossil deposits and date palm groves, then drive on to Merzouga by late afternoon. Once you arrive, you'll head out on camel for a trek into the Sahara, watching the sun go down over the Erg Chebbi dunes. You'll spend the night in a traditional Berber camp in the desert.

- Day 3
Merzouga to Fes
You're up early to catch the sunrise over the dunes, then ride camels back into Merzouga. After breakfast, the drive north goes through the Ziz Valley with its thick palm groves and fortified villages spread throughout. As you continue, you'll move through the Middle Atlas Mountains near Ifrane, which has a noticeably European feel with alpine-style buildings and cooler mountain air. You'll pull into Fes by late afternoon and check in to your accommodation.

- Day 4
Fes to Chefchaouen
A guided tour through Fes walks you through the medina, the ancient walled city at the heart of the place. You'll visit the Al-Qarawiyyin Mosque, one of the oldest universities in the world, and navigate the busy souks where merchants sell everything from leather goods to spices. The guide explains Fes's role as Morocco's spiritual and intellectual center over centuries. After the tour wraps up, you'll drive to Chefchaouen, known for its blue-washed buildings, and settle into a traditional riad for the night.

- Day 5
Chefchaouen to Marrakech
The morning walking tour through Chefchaouen takes you down narrow alleys painted in shades of blue, through local markets, and up to viewpoints overlooking the town and the Rif Mountains. After the tour, you'll drive toward Rabat for a lunch break by the coast. Then it's an afternoon drive back to Marrakech, completing your loop through Morocco's varied landscapes and cities.
