Johannesburg to Khama Rhino Sanctuary
This morning you'll cross into Botswana and head toward Khama Rhino Sanctuary at the edge of the Kalahari Desert. The sanctuary protects black and white rhinos, plus zebras, giraffes, leopards, ostriches and wildebeest. Later in the afternoon, a dusk game drive takes you out when rhinos are most active.

Khama Rhino Sanctuary to Maun

Okavango Delta to Maun

Maun to Nata

Chobe National Park to Victoria Falls
Start with an optional early morning game drive in Chobe for a different perspective of the park. Then travel to Victoria Falls, crossing into Zimbabwe. Take the entire day to explore Victoria Falls at your own pace. The falls span 1.5 km across and plunge 108 m below. During wet season, spray shoots up 400 m and the falls become a powerful torrent. Victoria Falls to Bulawayo
Depart Victoria Falls and travel to Bulawayo, stopping at the Victoria Falls Wildlife Trust, an Intrepid Foundation partner. Learn about wildlife rescue and rehabilitation, human-wildlife conflict and anti-poaching work. You may encounter rescued or orphaned animals in their care. Later, arrive in Bulawayo, known as the 'City of Kings' and Zimbabwe's second-largest city, featuring colonial architecture and interesting history.

Petauke to South Luangwa National Park
After breakfast, head to a workshop in South Luangwa where local craftswomen create jewelry from snare wire recovered during anti-poaching operations. The women demonstrate their process and let you try coiling or hammering wire yourself. Sales donations support anti-snare patrols. Then travel to South Luangwa National Park where animal concentration around the Luangwa River ranks among Africa's highest. Look for elephants, buffalo, leopards, giraffes, lions and around 400 bird species.

Mikumi National Park

Serengeti National Park
Wake at dawn for a game drive while animals are most active, then return to camp for brunch around 11 am. You can also opt for a hot air balloon ride over the park (replacing part of the morning drive). If pre-booked, pickup happens before dawn for a safety briefing, then you'll glide through the dawn sometimes at tree height for great photos. After landing, enjoy a five-star bush breakfast before returning to camp.

Nairobi to Lake Nakuru National Park
Take in spectacular views of the Rift Valley, Lake Naivasha and Lake Elementaita as you drive northwest to Lake Nakuru National Park in the heart of the Great Rift Valley. Arrive in time for a short evening game drive along the lake's shore. Lake Nakuru is a small, compact area excellent for spotting Big Five members and rhinos, your best chance to photograph these magnificent animals.

After your journey, have dinner prepared by the hotel before settling in for a restful night.

Kampala to Kalinzu Forest National Park
Travel to Kalinzu Forest National Park today. The park is home to chimpanzees, black and white colobuses, baboons, red-tailed monkeys, blue and red duikers, bushbucks, waterbucks, giant forest hogs, buffalo and elephants. When you arrive, settle into camp and perhaps stretch your legs exploring the surroundings with other group members.

Kalinzu Forest to Queen Elizabeth National Park
This morning, you have the option to take an excursion to see Kalinzu Forest's chimpanzees, creatures more closely related to humans than any other living animal. Watch them squabble and play in fruiting trees. Alternatively, soak in the forest sounds from your tent. Later, take a short drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Once camp is set up, there's an option for a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel, well-known for pelicans, eagles and other birds, plus a healthy hippo population.

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
With a local ranger and gorilla trackers, you'll climb through rugged mountain terrain in Bwindi (meaning 'dark') Impenetrable National Park for a rare chance to encounter gorilla families. No more than eight people per day visit any one habituated family and visits are strictly controlled to minimize disturbance. The terrain can be strenuous, but spotting a group dominated by a great male silverback makes it worthwhile. Watch them eat, sleep, groom and play as the silverback surveys the scene and you'll notice striking similarities between gorillas and humans.
