Arrival
Your driver will meet you and take you to the hotel to get settled. Once you've had time to refresh, check the bulletin board at the front desk in the afternoon. They'll have details about when your tour starts and any other information you need to know.

Barcelona to Girona
This morning, you'll see Barcelona with a local guide walking through Gaudí's modernist buildings, the crowded energy of Ramblas, and historical sites from the 1888 Universal Exposition and 1992 Olympics. Later, you'll head north to Girona. There you'll walk the old streets, seeing the colorful buildings and the medieval cathedral, plus the historic Jewish quarter that's tucked into the city center.

- Day 3
Girona to Provence to Chambery
You're crossing into France through Provence, stopping first in Arles where Van Gogh lived and painted. Walk around the Roman theater and the old Romanesque churches, grab lunch in town. After that, you'll head to Carrières des Lumières, which is basically an art gallery inside an ancient stone quarry underground with projections and sound. By evening you'll reach Chambery, a medieval town with a nice historic center and a castle.

- Day 4
Chambery to Switzerland
You're heading into Switzerland, arriving in Geneva to see the UN building (Palais des Nations), the English Garden with its flower clock, and the Jet d'Eau fountain shooting up from the lake. From there, you'll go to Gruyeres for a chocolate tasting at Maison Cailler. Later, you'll stop at Chillon Castle right on the water, then finish the day in Leysin, a quiet mountain village with views of Mont Blanc and the Rhône Valley below (75°F/24°C in summer, much colder in winter).

Leysin to Zurich
Early today you'll take a cable car up to Glacier 3000, where there's ice and snow year-round. You can walk the suspended bridge between peaks, check out the Ice Cathedral, or spend time in the Fun Park. Lunch happens in Interlaken, then you'll travel to Lucerne for the afternoon. By evening you'll reach Zurich with enough time to walk around the city center before the hotel.

Zurich to Milan
Starting early from Zurich, you're crossing the Alps to reach the Italian-speaking section of Switzerland. In Bellinzona, you'll see three medieval castles (UNESCO sites) and have time to walk the old streets. Then into Italy you go, stopping in Como for lunch by the lake with its gardens and cathedral. You'll finish in Milan where your guide shows you Piazza del Duomo, then check into your hotel.

Milan to Pisa to Rome
You're heading to Pisa first, taking a small tourist train to Piazza dei Miracoli where the Leaning Tower stands among other important buildings. You'll have time there to look around. After that, it's a long drive to Rome, arriving later in the day so you'll head straight to your accommodation.

Rome
Your guide leads a three-hour combination tour, part walking and part by bus, showing you the Arch of Constantine, the Colosseum exterior, Imperial Forums, Circus Maximus, the Baths of Caracalla, and other major sites, ending at Vatican City around 11 a.m. If you want, you can pay extra for the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel. Later, you'll transfer to Trastevere neighborhood for dinner at one of the many local restaurants there, heading back to the hotel around 8:30 p.m.

Rome to Florence
Head north from Rome and pull into Florence, making your way to Piazzale Michelangelo first for those sweeping views across the city. You'll have time to grab lunch somewhere in the area before joining a guided walking tour through the historic center. The tour takes you past Ponte Vecchio, then to the Duomo and Piazza della Signoria. After that, the afternoon and evening are yours to spend however you'd like, whether that's more wandering around the streets or checking out one of the many restaurants scattered throughout the area for dinner.

Florence to Venice
You'll cross the Apennines on your way to Venice, driving through mountain scenery. Once there, you'll take a boat across the Giudecca Canal to reach the main island. With a local guide, you'll visit St. Mark's Square. Then you'll go to Murano to see how they make the famous glass there and watch the craftspeople work. You have free time to walk around on your own after that. Your hotel is in the Mestre area, which is on the mainland.
