Itinerary
- Day 1
Marrakech to Dades Gorge
Leave Marrakech early and drive into the Atlas Mountains, crossing through Tichka Pass at 2,260 meters/7,415 feet. The road winds through mountain scenery before reaching Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with traditional earthen architecture that's been used as a film location many times. Stop for lunch in Ouarzazate where you can visit the Cinema Museum or explore a local kasbah if you're interested. After lunch, continue east through Skoura and Kalaat M'gouna in the Valley of Roses, eventually arriving at Dades Gorge by evening where you'll stay overnight.

- Day 2
Dades Gorge to Merzouga
Head deeper into the Sahara today, driving through the Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs toward Tinghir and the Todra Gorge, which has dramatic red rock walls worth seeing. Pass through Erfoud and Rissani, moving into the Tifilalte Oasis region. By afternoon you'll reach Erg Chebbi near Merzouga where the sand dunes start. Take a camel ride out to the dunes as the sun sets, then settle into a desert bivouac for the night under the stars.

- Day 3
Merzouga to Marrakech
Rise early to watch the sun come up over the Merzouga dunes and have breakfast at the bivouac. Begin your return journey westward, passing back through Erfoud and heading to Ouarzazate for a lunch stop. From there, continue driving toward Marrakech, arriving around 6:00 PM to finish your trip.
