Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Colombo to Mirissa

You'll land at Bandaranaike International Airport and head toward Mirissa, but there's plenty to see along the way. First up is a boat safari through Madu Ganga wetlands where mangrove forests line the waterways. After that, you'll stop at the Ahungalla Turtle Conservation Project to learn about the work happening there with sea turtles. The Ambalangoda Mask Museum comes next, showing traditional mask-making techniques that have been part of Sri Lankan culture for generations. Then you'll tour the Meetiyagoda Moonstone Mines to see how these gemstones are extracted. Before settling in for the evening, you'll walk through the historic Galle Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with its impressive colonial-era walls and buildings. By the time you reach your beachfront hotel in Mirissa, you'll have covered quite a bit of ground and can relax by the ocean.

There's also a chance you'll see flying fish, sea turtles, manta rays, and sharks if conditions are right. After returning to shore, you can spend time at Unawatuna Beach with its golden crescent of sand. We truly enjoyed our time in Sri Lanka and appreciated the opportunity to experience the country from a local perspective. The train rides were definitely a highlight — fun, authentic, and even more breathtaking than expected. One of the most memorable moments was making the long, winding journey from Ella to cross the iconic Nine Arch Bridge. The scenery along the way was stunning, and sharing the ride with locals made it feel even more special — a true “wow” experience, even better than what you see in photos. Our driver was excellent throughout the journey, driving safely and ensuring we had plenty of breaks to stay comfortable. Overall, Ran lanka Tour Holidays provided the best service and made our trip truly memorable.

We are two solo women travelers from Doha, Qatar, who recently embarked on an exciting journey with RanlankaTour Holidays' Solo Holidays Tour. Our adventure began on a beautiful day, but shortly after the tour started, heavy rain set in. Despite the downpour, we enjoyed every moment thanks to our fantastic guide, Chandana. The rain persisted for the first three days, leaving us thoroughly soaked, but the stunning scenery and unique charm of each place we visited made it all worthwhile. Chandana’s kindness, knowledge, and expertise greatly enhanced our experience, helping us find joy even in the rainiest moments. Once the weather cleared, our experience became even more delightful, making it a trip to remember. We truly appreciate the thoughtfully arranged activities and highly recommend RanlankaTour Holidays for anyone planning a trip to Sri Lanka.
