Itinerary
- Day 1
Dar es Salaam/Arusha to Lushoto
You'll get picked up from the airport or your hotel in either Dar es Salaam or Arusha and driven directly to the Lushoto area in the Tanga region. Once you arrive, check into your accommodation and meet with your safari guide who'll walk through the full program with you.

Lushoto to Rangwi
After breakfast at your hotel, you'll start trekking through local villages heading uphill into the Magamba rainforest. The trek covers about 13 km and takes 5 to 6 hours, and you'll see black and white Colobus monkeys and two-horned chameleons along the way through the natural forest. Lunch happens in Magamba village, then you'll catch a public bus to Rangwi sister's convent where you'll sleep that night.

Landmarks Magamba rainforest - Day 3
Rangwi to Magumba
You'll trek roughly 14 km over 6 to 7 hours today, moving through villages and then along the mountain escarpment to reach Mtae. From there you get a 180 degree view across toward Tsavo West, Kenya, and Kilimanjaro. Lunch with the Ernest family breaks up the day, and after that you'll visit the pottery workshop to try your hand at making pots with clay soil. Later you'll continue hiking through the Usambara Mountains escarpment and end at Magumba Cottages for the night.

Magumba to Lushoto/Departure
Early morning means you'll drive back to Lushoto, which is about a 63 km trip. From there your options open up, so you can head to Dar es Salaam or Tanga to catch a flight, or if you want something different, you could arrange safaris in the Moshi or Arusha areas instead.
