Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Sydney to Southern Highlands

After leaving Sydney, you'll drive into the Southern Highlands countryside to reach Berrima, one of Australia's best-preserved Georgian towns. Once there, walk through the historic convict-era sandstone gaol to get a sense of what life was like in those early colonial days. Later in the morning, you'll head to Gold Creek Station, a working sheep and cattle farm, where the owners will talk through farm operations before you sit down for a barbecue lunch on the grounds. From there, it's on to Parliament House where you can either wander the grounds or take a self-guided tour of the architecturally striking building at your own pace.

  2. Day 2

    Canberra

You'll spend your day at Floriade, an annual celebration with over a million flower bulbs spread across Lake Burley Griffin and the surrounding areas. Walk through beautifully arranged flower beds in different patterns and themes, and there's entertainment and market stalls to check out as well. After grabbing lunch, a guided tour takes you through the National Arboretum with an expert who'll explain what you're seeing. The arboretum has over 44,000 rare and endangered trees across 94 forests covering 250 hectares, so there's plenty to take in including themed gardens and the Margaret Whitlam Pavilion. Later that evening, you'll have dinner with the other travelers, talking through everything you saw that day.

This was my first trip on a guided tour. Was feeling nervous - but it ended up being a great experience. Everything went smoothly. The communication from Tour Radar was good. They responded promptly to my queries. It was well organized. The itinerary gave an opportunity to see and have a range of experiences, The tour guide Joe from Down Under Tours (AAT) was fantastic. He really enjoyed his job and was passionate about sharing the places we visited. He was very knowledgeable too. Joe was very friendly and respectful to all of us on the tour.
